Questions: Making mp3s

Hi all,
I just got a 60GB HD and plan on ripping all my cds to mp3. I have a couple of questions that I thought I'd throw this way.

1. Which program is the best for ripping? I have 2 CPUs so anything that is mp aware would be very nice.
2. Which program can go straight from CD to mp3 and make nice titles from CDDB and writes ID3 tags?
(I hope 1 and 2 are the same answer)

3. I have a Pioneer 106s and this seems to do DAE at 12x. Is this a good drive to use for ripping?
4. Which bitrate do you think is best to rip at? I was thinking about 192 but 160 seems to be the same.

personally, i use EAC for ripping and encode it using LAME. LAMEenc is constantly updated, so you can get the latest version here if you're looking for it.

r3mix.net is the best place to go for the goods. I also use EAC and LAME, as do most people here from what I recall of the last thread on this topic.

1. Yeah, see the FAQ, but it doesn't talk about rippers - yet. For ripping use either CDEX or EAC. For encoding use LAME. No rippers or encoders are MP-aware, unfortunately.

2. See #1.

3. It's good enough. Mine occasionally has glitches in the extracted files, even using EAC. My Acer CD-RW does a higher quality job (no errors, ever), but it only rips at ~5X.
