Questions on DvD-R/Rw drives.....

I have finally reached that point where Cd's just ain't cutting it no more. So I've decided to get one of the DvD writers and as such I have a few questions:

1) I'm leaning towards the Pioneer DVR-A04 since it's a 2nd Gen drive and I've always had good luck with Pioneer. Any reason I should not get this one or is there a better choice?? (*price is not a big matter*)

2) I've seen that some 9gb DvD media has started to pop up. I assume this is 2 sided media (correct?). My question is will the Pioneer drive have any problems writing to it?? If so, are there any drives that can do this 2 sided media without problem??

3) Finally just looking for a recommendation on where to buy the media

1) Options are that drive or one of the new 2nd generation DVD+R/+RW drives. For me DVD-R is better because I have a Mac. I bought the Panasonic LF-D311 DVD-RAM/DVD-R drive.
2) Double sided. Pioneer will write to it OK if it's good quality. Might only do 1X if it's cheaper media. Personally I'd rather have single sided unless it's a lot cheaper. (I'll get double sided DVD-RAM for myself though, since it's in a cartridge.)
3) Meritline.com has good prices, but their really cheap stuff apparently isn't so good. The best guaranteed stuff for the price is probably the Apple branded media for $25 for a 5-pack. It seems if you spend less than $3-4 per disc things get a bit dicey according to what I've gleaned from the net.

The 9GB DVD-R disc that you found are not the same as the dual layer disc used for movies. To burn 9GB of data to one of these DVD-R's you have to burn 4.5GB to one side and then flip the disc over and burn the other 4.5GB on the otherside.
