Questions regarding Asus P4P800 deluxe

Right, im looking to grab myself a 3.4ghz northwood (the fastest available northwood, 512k L2 cache) for real cheap to upgrade my old machine.

However im not so sure if my motherboard supports it or not.

Anyone have any anwsers to this?

On Asus's site, it simply said:

Currently using the beta bios 1021.003.

note - side question. Does the old motherboard gain any benefical peformance from using low latency memory modules? (yea i can get these for cheap too).

With the last bios, it should work fine. Have you tried overclocking your current cpu? I was able to run my old 2.8c at 3500 (250 fsb).

I could, but the memory kind of stinks. (generic samsung DDR400).

Right does the low latency memory modules give me any performance? Im sure this board likes some modules while hating others.. but its so old i cant find any good info on it anymore

get a CT-479 Adapter and Celeron/Pentium M CPU

I also have been thinking about that. Games, the Pentium M may dominate after a good OC, but the old PC is for mostly general usage. I think ill OC the old 3ghz northwood. (but its been 4 years so im not sure how long it will live)
