Hi, just wondering if someone can answer the following riddle for me. Here is a pop-quiz question:
I am planning a setup as follows:
Comp A (onboard gigabit) --> Cat 5e --> D-Link Wireless Gigabit Router
Comp B (onboard gigabit) --> Cat 5e --> D-Link Wireless Gigabit Router
Comp C (onboard gigabit) --> Cat 5e --> D-Link Wireless Gigabit Router
Then the following:
Comp D (onboard 100TX) --> Cat 5 (non-e) --> 10 mbs hub (yes, 10)
X-Box (onboard 100TX) --> Cat 5e --> 10 mbs hub (again yes, 10)
Then the hub goes to the gateway as follows:
10 mbs hub --> Cat 5e --> D-Link Wireless Gigabit Router
OK...so here's the multiple choice riddle for you:
Q: Are...
a) computers A, B & C all able to 'talk' to each other at gigabit speed, but any of them can only 'talk' to computer D at 10 mbs and vice versa. Plus X-box will download at 10 mbs speed.
b) all computers downgraded in ability to 'talk' to any one of each other only at 10 mbs, regardless of the capabilities of each system/console.
Thanks!
