My dog hated baths. I used to have to tie a sock around his muzzle in order to bathe him without bringing about serious damage to my own personal self.

My cock is crack for your mom.

You just got off vacation yesterday and yet you felt compelled to come into a thread that has nothing to do with you and start up with this baiting crap?

Back in the box.

Put the bottle down man...you're getting angry.
Our Collie loves bath time. Every time she hears the water run and sees her shampoo bottle she starts going crazy. haha

My dog despises baths.

Also, depending on the breed, you don't want to give them a bath too much.

Oh, my dog does not like the bath process at all. It's after the bath the crack kicks in. He runs around the house, rolls all over the floor, and will not sit still for more than two seconds.

Is there are a reason baths are crack for dogs?

At USARPC Basic Sentry Dog School, we were told that baths were bad for our German Shepherd Dogs.

Shampoo can strip the oils out of a dogs outer coat. These oils help protect the dog as well as helping to keep them dry in the rain.

My experience is that a daily brushing works best ... Though, I understand that some dogs, therapy dogs for example, are given baths before their hospital visits.

If you have the time, you might want to pick up a good brush and try regular brushing rather than bathing.

Best of luck,

Meh no reason why your dog should dislike bath if you conditioned them as pups with positive praise + treats.

My dog is okay with it. Doesn't freak out nor get excited.

However, he LOVES swimming.

Our old dog hated them but loved being sprayed with the hose so my dad would just get it done that way.

Some dogs simply hate water, too.

My dog, a lab/aussie shepherd mix, is, ironically enough (remember the lab part - even has somewhat webbed feet!) even a wimp with rain. Raining out? She either is in desperate need to take a piss/shit, or she simply is not going out there. She'll walk to the edge of the porch, look out, determine "yep, i really don't have to do this, fuck that shit" and turn tail and beg to be let back in.

Spray with water, even drip water on her (say, from wet hands), she is not happy.

Haven't even tried giving her a bath, don't expect positive results. Maybe once she's completely soaked, she'll just enter a state of shock and think, "fuck it, fuck you, fuck all this. but goddammit, whatever" and be stone-faced and completely still. But I expect epileptic-level thrashing.

The frequency at which I bathe my dog is determined by him alone. Every couple of months or so he seems to find something overripe to roll in. With winter approaching, I probably won't have to bathe him again.

My mom's basset hound hates water more than anything in the world, and if someone makes him smell good his first task is to run outside and find the smelliest thing within a mile.

My dogs dislike baths. My girl will try to run away half-assedly, but once she's in she'll stand there stoically. But afterwards she runs around and such, similar to yours. My boy dog accepts his fate and stands there shivering. It's kind of cute. But I wish my dogs liked water/swimming

It appears as though allisolm has opened a can of whopass on our resident alpha male. I do hope his tremendous hulking ego can withstand the blow.

I think this is why she likes bath time. When we first brought her home we bought one of those cheap little kiddie pools filled it with water and put it out in the backyard for her. Whenever she got hot, needed a drink, or just wanted to get wet it was there for her to jump in.

Harder to do if your dog isn't food motivated. My dog has even spit out a piece of steak before. I leave the dog food on the ground with the bag open because I know he'll never stick his head in to eat it. Usually his breakfast is still in his bowl when I get home in the evening.
