In that case you'd have to remove the existing 128, and stick in at least a 256 dimm, tho i don't know how many bones you have spare to spend

i just spent the last 1/2 hour or so messing around with Medal of Honor. i can put the video settings as high or as low as I want, and still get close to the same results. I have also noticed that it gets choppy when a bunch of things happen (ex: explosions, tons of people on the screen, etc) so, I think now that it is my lack of RAM.

I have 75$ and some stuff to trade(2 Xbox games and a stick of 256 sdram)

what should I get?

After new ram get a new video card. The MX's are not very good comparativily. With the system you have there I think it may be the video are that is lagging you down. (After the ram that is)

1) When was the last time you ran Defrag or even better Norton Speed Disk?
2) When was the last time you removed all the useless programs and crap from your HD?
3) When was the last time you ran a registry cleaner?
4) Do you have your swap file optimized?

Yeah, your maxtor is slowing your system down because
1. the RPM is low
2. it is probably a lower ATA / UDMA spec (look for at least ATA 100 nowadays, more if your MB supports it)

I know coz I had a maxtor just like yours in a 1GHz athlon. even desktop apps would groan for the first second or so till the program loaded into memory

I switched to a IBM 60GXP and the difference was like night and day.

also consider a seagate barracuda (probably a bit cheaper/slower/more reliable(maybe) than the IBM 60GXP)

also be sure that your processor is not overheating (that can cause choppiness) - I'm assuming your RAM is working OK too
