Quick P180 question

Hey guys-
I'm sure this has been addressed but a quick search didnt bring too much up-
How big of a dif. does the lower fan make? the reason I ask is because my PSU is very long (sticks out quite a bit from the cage) and there was no way in hell that I was going to be able to keep the wires from hitting the fan.
I read that someone put the fan on the other side (HD side) of the middle divider. Is that worth doing? Should I flip the way the fan is connected to the plastic snap on holder thingy? Is it better to put the fan before the HD in between the front of the case and the HDD?
Or will it even make a huge dif? I am planning on OC'ing a bit, running a Tuniq tower on an E6600 if that matters.
Also worth noting- I am running only one HDD so i doubt it will be creating a huge amount of heat- I'm more concerned about general airflow with the case design- if it serves more of a purpose than just cooling a bunch of HDD's.

if you put the fan on the other side it will be blowing towards the hard drive which is going to be fighting the air flwo the psu is creating. better off just removing it. with one hard drive i think youll be ok. i have 3 hard drives down there and i dont think i could fit the fan on the HD side without a dremel to mod. the p180 should be about 2 inches longer.

i have the corsair hx620 and it is 10mm longer than standard atx but everything fits great.

which psu do u have?

Thermaltake tough power 700w...it's a good inch longer than the cage

well from all the reading i have done i dont think one HD down there with no fan will be an issue. but just download speedfan and check the HD temp as soon as possible so on the off chance it isnt workin out for ya just get a different PS. i doubt u will have an issue though.

With a single HDD I would try it without the fan-- the PSU may pull enough air across.

turn the fan around so it blows in the right direction!!!!

Yup...exactly what I did.
I have the 750w PC Power & Cooling PS which is about 7" deep.
I mounted the fan on the other side of the middle partition, but blowing towards the PSU.
Makes it a bit cramped between the fan and your HDs, but not too bad.

ummm the mounting clips for the fan are only on one side, therefore to clip it in it will face the other way. unless the holding cage is separate from the fan, which i could not tell from examination. it looks like one part - maybe it isnt.

I just looked at the mounting thing and the fan is just screwed on to it, so I should be able to reverse the fan w/out a problem.

You're looking at the wrong part.
There are no clips for the fan on the bottom of the case. It simply screws into the middle partition between the drive cage and the PSU.

There are no clips for the fan on the bottom of the case. It simply screws into the middle partition between the drive cage and the PSU.

yeah when the OP asked i opened my case and took a look see. with everything installed i couldnt get a very good look and could only see the snap in parts of the black frame surrounding the fan. it is awfully crowded down ther ewith an hx620 and 3 HD in the bottom cage
