Quick question about Athlon cpu install

Well, I just got a slot A Athlon cpu, and its in my mobo almost ready to be started, but there's a two-hole connector coming out of it(I'm pretty sure its coming from the cpu, its from between the heatsink and the cpu) and I have no idea where to put it, The only free two-pin connector I see is one thats labelled SCSI LED. Please help, I wanna boot this up soon. Any idea what its for exactly too?

Just curious why you got a slot A, rather than a socket A?

Boy that sounds strange, are you sure you didn't accidently put the power connector for the Heatsink/fan between the cpu/hsf when you installed it? take the heatsink off and tell me what you see.

Does the Athlon have a GFD on top of it??? Some GFD's need power to them. But I have not heard of one that uses a 2 pin connector..just an idea. The only other thing I can think of is the what miken was saying, that somehow the power cord for the fan got in between.

Did you buy this as a HSF/CPU combo? If so the company you purchased it from might have been nice enough to include a heat sensor. This being the case check your MB documentation to see if you have the connector for it if you don't, well then don't worry about it.

Ok, thanks for the info! I was wondering what the heck that thing did. I bought it as a cpu/hfs combo from the FS/FT forum, as well as the mobo. There doesn't seem to be much info on the mobo(its from a Gateway), so I won't bother as the only place I see it would fit is the one labelled SCSI LED. Now to finish setting up my new system

I got slot A cause the mobo was really cheap, $30, and it can hold me off until all the fastest stuff now is dirt-cheap.
