Quick question on Cdrw installation (its stupid I know)

just got one of those IDE Iomega 12x10x32 drives from the Compusa deal

Ive only had SCSI drives before.. so

how should I hook it up

I have an ATA66 HD, ide DVD drive, and now ide Cdrw

I want to beable to do Cd to Cd burns so how should it be hooked up?


1)Hd master/ Cdrw slave
DVD

2) DVD master/ Cdrw slave
3) cdrw master, DVD Slave

4)HD master DVD slave
CDrw Master???


how should I do this??


Id also like my DVD drive to me my main Cd reading drive since they are both 32x and Id like to save wear to the Cdrw

senario 4 would be the most likely to provide sucessful burns in my expierence. but then, disc to disc burns have failed a lot on me too, in any set up. try it out, see what works best, but I would try 4 first.

My HP 9350i CDRW is the master on my secondary IDE channel and my Toshiba SD-M1202 DVD drive is the slave on the same channel. I've burned disc-to-disc at 10X with no issues. I have my two hard drives as master and slave on my primary IDE channel.

I'd go with your HD on primary IDE. Then the DVD as master on secondary IDE with your CDRW as it's slave. Some DVDs play better when they are the master drive. Mine is one.
