If you have a stick of ram in all 4 slots, will it slow down the speed of the ram? because i want 2GB's, but getting 4 512MB sticks is cheaper than 2 1GB sticks. if it does slow down the speed, is there anyway of getting it back up to speed?

It looks like your CPU won't downclock the ram, but YOu'll have to live with 2T.

Btw, GO with 2x 1GB, as you won't have to face 2t .

2T command rate. All you have to know is that it makes your system slower.

looks really good. however, you may want to consider revising your case choice. thats not a very good psu, and those things are big ugly and loud. also, if you can afford it, get a X2 3800+ otherwise stay with the 3700+

how much more is the x2 3800+? if its not too terribly much, i may be able to get a cooler master centruion 5 case and fortron 400W and use a little of the extra cash towards an x2. anyway, ive heard good things about the tsunami cases and it looks like a lot of people have them.

1. get a DFI board if you can afford it
2. avoid the hitachi deathstar go for a seagate HD
3. instead of liteon get a benqDW1640 DVDrw

yeah, the case it ok, but the psu seems kinda iffy to me. you'd be better off with the fortron. its always better to get a case without a psu. the x3 3800+ costs about 350USD.

in reply to theman, as much as i'd like to, i can't afford the x2 without making downgrades on some of my other choices which i really dont want to do.

in reply to deathcharge, hitachi is a good brand, im sticking with it. i may get a dfi board, but since this is my first build i'd like the epox because i have heard its more user friendly. the lite-on is fine for me.

Edit: tigerdirect has an incredible deal on 512MB sticks of ultra for $20 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications...-Details.asp?EdpNo=586829&sku=ULT30215. since im not looking to overclock or anything, and i dont need the BEST in performance, would buying 4 sticks of this (2GB) be a good idea. that would save me a lot of money and i would definetly be able to go with the x2 cpu.

Well the TD rebate is limit 1 per household and Ultra is TD's house brand. Personally I would just get 1 gig or RAM for now, you can always get the 2nd gig later when you get more money.

Also I think you should stick with the Epox board. DFI is nice, but they arn't new-user-friendly.
