Its not uncool .. I've been ripped off by staples and the company that handles their rebates twice. I don't mind doing it.

They have an okay rating at resellerratings.com: 4.2 (out of 7). I was actually tempted to do the purchase, but I would advise you not to because they do not use encryption to protect your private information transmission to their server.

While this fact in and of itself is not too damning, it says a lot about their security expertise.

I am curious though how likely it is to get the Staples PM?

I ordered this deal on January 12.
They sent me a U.P.S. tracking number, and somthing is on schedule to arrive at my house on January 18 based on the U.P.S. tracking number.
Hopefully the item in shipment is exactly as advertised.

I ordered the Quicken Suite 2001 from #9 Software, although I was very suspicious because of the extremely low price.

Well, I'm here to say that the package shipped the same day that I ordered it and arrived today. It is just the CD pack (no printed manuals or box) which includes Quicken 2001, Quicken Family Lawyer, and a mail-in voucher for TurboTax Deluxe.

Total price of $26.85 -- less than TurboTax Deluxe retail alone.

I'd recommend people consider this.

OK, so exactly how are you going to get Turbo Tax Deluxe with the voucher. Is It for the 2000 tax year?

Print out the web page. Use American Express. If you don't get what you are told, dispute with the credit card company. You may get the full refund. Will this work?

asianguy30, it is a mail-in voucher that you send to Intuit.

It is for tax year 2000.

It says, "Complete and return the postage-paid voucher below, and we will send the tax year 2000 TurboTax Deluxe portion of Quicken 2001 Suite as soon as it becomes available (expected ship date is mid-December). Mail-in rebate coupons for one free TurboTax State program and one free electronically filed federal return, both for tax year 2000, will be included with your TurboTax Deluxe shipment in mid-December...."

I guess my only concern is how long it'll take Intuit to send it to me.

I received my package today, and it is as 'HiroWorship' described (an OEM-type software pack).
There are no UPC codes on anything so no one is going to get any mail-in rebates off this deal but the price is right anyway.
The state tax software rebate does not concern me since I live in Texas where there is no state income tax.

I purchased the Quicken 2001 Suite from them as well. It was shipped within a day or two of placing the order. The voucher for TurboTax Deluxe says to allow 2-3 weeks for delivery, so there should still be plenty of time to get in on this deal and still get your taxes done on time.

As far as the TurboTax State program goes, you can purchases it online and then send in the rebate form (that is supposed to come with TurboTax Deluxe) along with your TTState purchase receipt in order to get your money back for the purchase of TTState.

I called the Intuit rebate center and told them that I purchased a copy of Quicken 2001 Suite that did not contain a rebate, but that I noticed their website had a $20 rebate offer. The person I talked to said that I could send a copy of my Quicken 2001 Suite receipt and a photocopy of the CD jacket to her, and that they would send the rebate. I don't know that they will continue to honor the rebate for other customers, but it makes it a pretty hot deal for me. I basically get Quicken Deluxe, Quicken Family Laywer, TurboTax Deluxe, and one TurboTax State program all for the price of shipping ($5.85).

I bought it from Directdeals.com for about the same price.

Its an OEM version.....ie. no box or manuals

just a friendly reminder that when I last checked their website, they did not use SSL to encrypt your tranmissions to their server. So if you really must buy from them, I suggest you use a one-time use credit card.

Personally, I don't think I'll buy in because I can't condone their lack of SSL by giving them my money.
