QUICKIE: No SKY in Halflife with new Radeon 8500? Cant find answer...

This must have been covered gazillions of times over the net but i cant seem to find a discussion on it anywhere. My search skillz are lacking i suppose...

Theres simply NO SKY...its blank white...in Half Life with my new Radeon 8500...this has to do with those compressed textures or something right? Theres a quick command you add to Halflife commandline and it fixes it?

yes i did....that was late last night and i was tired....but i can try again...


EDIT: Ok found one thread on it ....

but thers no solution posted....people said try different drivers?? that really sucks...im using the latest official ones which every1 has nothing but nice things to say about ...and a fresh win98 install.

It might not be your vid card. There has been an issue with the sky in cs1.4. I ran accross a fix for it recently and emailed it to all the regulars on my server. I was only having trouble with the sky on custom maps, but it might be worth a try for you. I'm at work now and don't have the file or remember where I got it, but if you want me to send it to you, email or pm me. I think I had found it at fileplanet.

Skyfixer for 1109 This will fix the jacked up skies in the Retail Half Life 1109 update.

That patch is NOT working. No way im screwing up the simple installation (copy into/halflife/valve and run the .BAT file) ....it makes the problem even WORSE. The sky is still gone and half of the map outdoors is some wierd BLUE texture. I reinstalled Halflife and tried it again...same thing.

Also i tried 1108 before i updated to 1109 during this reinstall...and the sky WORKED...except that SAME blue texture was all over the walls.

What is going on!@!?? Had nothing like this with my geforce2....

I'm gonna look around the net some more now....if any1 knows something HELP ME OUT PLEASE@!!@
