Hi guys,

Whats the BEST quite case fan out there? I want the fan VERY QUITE next to "dead" if you know what I mean! I was thinking Zalman FB123, are there any quiter fans besides that?

Thank you so much,
Leo

the regular size would be ok. I've read and read and read some more and got confused. Different people have different opinion, basically I want something very very quite. I recentely bought Fan from Best Buys by Mutant Mod (dba) 27 which is damn loud.

what case do you have then? Because cases only take certain size fans. And if your in canada buy off of ncix.com, if your in the states, buy off of newegg.com. You have already found out first hand how bad best buy is for computer parts.

My case looks like the blue case at the link.

BEST BUY SUCKS... Let's just say I didn't read before buying the fan from them.

Yes ncix.com looks like a good site. I was thinking of going over to CANADA Computers or Pacific Mall to pick those fans up. But which fan would be the QUIETEST?

I don't want to hear the fan noise and also want good air circulation.

The fan which I got from Best Buy Dimensions are 80x80x25mm hope this helps

Thanks

I think Zalman ZB123 is also 20 dba. So is this the best it gets?

Did you get the 80mm?

So would Stealth and Zalman be around the same neighbourhood as far as quietness goes?

sounds like your right, oustanding reviews @ http://www.us.ncix.com/products/index.php?mode=productreviewread&product_id=8975

I will replace my 4 of my present fans with these ones unless off course if someone can top this one

I am also replacing my CPU fan to Zalman 7700, which should quiet things down a lot.

Thank you kindly

Edited:

I am reading about them and some people are saying they are not as quiet when close to the computer. I wanted something quieter...?? Sometimes I stay up studying and I need something that I won't be able to hear even at 3 am at night.

no, just no. Vantec Stealth fans are basically like generic fans that are on lower RPM. Their motors click like mad, especially noticeably when you undervolt. Heavily frowned up fan by many regulars at www.silentpcreview.com.

Nexus makes the best quiet fans (any size). While they are at lower RPM's, they are also very high quality fans. Next to nothing in motor noise. Just smooth sound of air being pushed.

FB123 fan is pretty average. I have it along with a Nexus 92mm, and even though the FB123 fan spins 100RPM faster, it is by far louder than the Nexus fan. It's not even a fair comparison. the FB123 bracket is nice though along with the resistor that comes with it.

Panaflo makes good fans, but they tend to spin a bit fast, they undervolt well though.

Arctic Cooling makes very good 80mm fans.

some more recommendations.

It seems you have some decent answers... so I just have to.

quite (kwt)
adv.

1. To the greatest extent; completely: quite alone; not quite finished. See Usage Note at perfect.
2. Actually; really: I'm quite positive about it.
3. To a degree; rather: quite soon; quite tasty.

I dont know what a very quite fan is, however I can help you on very quiet fans.

These are for budget:
Get a 5.25" fan bus like the sunbeam

80mm: Panalfo L1A @ 7V
92mm: Panaflo L1A @ 7V
120mm: YateLoon D12SL12 @ 6V

Non-Budget:

Nexus for all sizes at 9V or less.

Excellent, thank you all very much for all your inputs. I think it would be wise to get a Nexus fan especially after reading the reviews at Silent PC Review.

Would the 80mm be quieter than the 92mm in Nexus?

Sorry but just one more thing. I was suppose to pick up my Zalman 7700 today but still am trying to make up my mind between XP-120 and Zalman, not too sure. I know the review on Silent PC Review claims XP-120 to be the best, but are the XP-120 louder than Zalman?

I don't overclock like heavily so that's not an issue to me, quietness is. Which one should I get? I have Asus P4P800 and Intel 3.0. IF XP-120 is the best way to go whats the best fan to get. Please let me know if zalman will be quieter than XP-120.

Thanks

the XP-90 and XP-120 and the Zalman heatsinks are all excellent products. The XP-90 and 120 comes with no fan, so it is as quiet as the fan you decide to put on it. The Zalman is cheaper though since you don't hafta buy a fan for it.

Nexus generally makes all their fans at aboutt he same quietness level. But in general, go for the bigger case fan, on the assumption your case supports it.

I know what it comes with and the $$. What I would like to know is that will XP-120 with a quieter fan be more quieter than Zalman 7700 which comes with it's own fan?

Although Zalman and XP-120 are both excellent product, wouldn't it be true to say XP-120 outperforms Zalman?

Pc Silent Review recommends Fan: Panaflo FBA12G12L1A for XP-120 but after reading many other reviews it seems that panaflo is anything but quiet?

That being said I need someone to tell me if I should go with XP-120 or Zalman 7700 and if XP-120, what's the QUIETEST fan possible to get and will it then be quieter than Zalman

Thanks

Go with the XP-120 then. using a fan of your choice (and the ability to easily undervolt a fan without too much effort) will allow you greater flexability. I wouldn't go with a Panaflo (L). the 120mm version spins at like 1700RPM, which is pretty loud, so you would likely require some undervolting.

make sure the XP-120 fits your motherboard and what not. If it doesn't, grab the XP-90 then, it fits 95% of motherboards, but uses a 92mm fan instead.

Loud is what I don't want. I want something pin drop silence. Anyone with XP-120 who has any recommendations?

I have P4P800 which will be just right for XP-120.

I was thinking of going with Nexus 120mm for XP-120 and 4 nexus 80mm for my case? Does that sound right?

It looks like NCIX is out of XP-120, any other place in Toronto area where I can pick it up or In Canada who has it in stock?

Thanks
