Quiet PSU for Antec P180

I've had a bad experience with the Antec SP-500 so I will be avoiding that model.

Anyone have any suggestions for a 450W-550W PSU for my Antec P180. Most important factor is quietness & stability.

With the P180, cable lengths can be a concern...

Thanks,
CxP

I've got the Forton (FSP) 500w in my P180, and it's been very stable for me so far, and I definitely cannot hear it over the vacuum cleaner they attach to the x1900xt. Also, I'm sure that even after I replace the hsf for the gpu, I still will not be able to hear the power supply. It is the furthest part from you in the P180 setup, so any relatively quiet PSU should be virtually silent.

As far as cable length goes, the only concern for me was the ATX12v which has to go all the way to the top of my DS3. I presently have it snaking between the heatpipes of my SI-128 (under the heatsink, over the cpu), as there was no other way to get it all the way up there.

All things considered, I would recommend it, as it soulnds like you were looking for pretty much the exact same thing as me.

Hope that helps

Running OCZ Powerstream 520 in my P180. Cable length is fine for a DFI NF4. Can't hear it over chipset fan.

Enermax Liberty 400W or Seasonic S12 430W. Both are very quiet, and the Liberty is modular.

Silencer here, so chipset fan = blech.

what is your build, i'd be willing to bet you don't need a 500w psu... the 430w seasonic has 29amps combined on the 12v rails. Should be more than enough for any single gpu system.

I can thoroughly recommend the Seasonic S12-500W - just built my PC with one in the last week, in a P180 case. Not only is it really quiet but it runs nice and cool as well - rock solid build, too - I couldn't be happier with it

Yeah but not all places have it that cheap, and are guaranteed to stock the latest revision with longer, sleeved cables.

Yea Seasonic all the way. The build quality is really impressive definetly worth the money. The S12 430 should be all you need as its really efficient and its that bit cheaper than the 500W version.

S12 430=......3.3@30A...5V@30A...12V1@14A...12V2@15A...Combined 12V probably 23~24A

ENP-5140GH=3.3@20A...5V@14A...12V1@16A...12V2@18A...combined 12V IS 28A

Both are 80Plus certed and quiet. The 430 has(maybe) longer sleeved cables but is designed
for an older CPU that needs high 5V wattage. The 5140 is cheaper and has more 12V grunt

I have read more good reviews of this PSU than bad ones,so ...i any case its 2months old so it will wait a bit more for replacment. But thanks.

I have read lots of P180 reviews, so can anyone tell me for certain is P180B new rev?(no VGA duct, 25mm bottom fan, more room for PSU cable managment etc.)

I think the B stands for Black. Antec NEO HE PSU's will obviously fit and seem to get good reviews everywhere but this forum.

OP, TP2 PSUs use crappy caps that will end up killing the PSU and might take other parts down with it in the future.
