Quit Smoking - Now I can smell again?

I just quit smoking for the third time. The first two times I guess I didn't notice as much, but this time I feel like I can smell my baby drop a load in her diaper from outside. Anyone else have this happen?

Very common. Quit over 4 years ago and I can smell patients at the other end of a unit now. I can smell a smoker coming from a mile away now and the smell lingers for a long time after they have left. When I was actively smoking and started out working in direct patient care I honestly thought I smelled fine after washing my hands after having had a smoke way down on the curb several hundred feet from the hospital. It sticks to you even outside and follows you in. In a sterile environment such as that cigarette smells really stick out to the non smoker nose.

If you keep going back you never "quit". At best you just took a break. You can only "quit" once, and only as long as you don't go back again.

Now if you were actually quitting smoking crystal than ya the sense of smell will take a little while longer.

my last cig was 1/10/2013. i used to attribute things being bland to eating super spicy food. but i know for a fact it was because i was a heavy smoker. e-cigs ftw

Every time I am anywhere near a smoker (including in another car) I can't believe I put other people through that smell. I can hardly stand it. Thank goodness we (my wife and I) never smoked in the house. Whenever we go see her grandmother we have to change our clothes and take a shower when we get back (she did smoke in the house.)

When I quit I did notice my smell to be better, but the most shocking one was the taste of food (within few weeks/months).

It was like discovering new taste of food (that you have been eating all along).

Because being a chef is an insanely stressful job. I can't imagine going at 100% for hours like these guys do.
