I started slipping last week, smoked 4 cigs since last monday. After almost 70 days without one I became frustrated with the fact that the urge's would not go the fuck away. Dunno what happens next, I might join a support group or something..
You had a lapse. No biggie. Just realize it and get back on the wagon. You can do it.
Thanks for the encouragement, it's not too bad yet, I've only allowing myself one a day when I walk the dog but I fear where it will wind up,-full-blown relapse..
As I mentioned last week, and was lambasted for it, you don't sound like you're ready to quit. You need to mentally prepare yourself for it.
I'd say go ahead and smoke. It's not going to hurt you after smoking for x amount of years, but be thinking about quitting and needing to quit. That's your short term goal; mental preparation.
Next, set a date that you're going to quit. Keep this date in mind via a calendar, date book or an electronic method. The thing is to keep this date fresh in your memory to remind you of the upcoming, life-changing day.
Once that day arrives throw away all smoking paraphernalia; ash trays, lighters, lighter fluid, flint, left-over cigarettes, 'points' (Camel cash, UPCs, ...). Don't keep anything. You're done. You won't need it.
If you've smoked indoors, the next thing you'll want to do is a 'spring cleaning' of your home. As a smoker, you may not be aware of it, but your furniture, linens and drapery all stink. Wash them. Also, wash all of your clothing including your jackets and coats. This is done to get a fresh and clean start to your new lifestyle.
One thing that will not help you is hanging out with people that smoke or getting yourself into situation where people all around you are smoking. You might want to cut down on taking some breaks at work or go somewhere else during your breaks, but down stand around with the other smokers.
Since you're starting new by getting rid of something, now would be a good time to take up a new hobby. Something you've always wanted to do or something that you've been putting off. Woodworking, learning a new instrument (may I suggest guitar? ), gardening, fitness,...
Anywho, good luck...again!
