I just got emailed this deal. They are selling 1:64 scale R/C boats for as little as $6.65 shipped. The deal is that they are $9.95 for 1, $14.95 for 2 and $19.95 for 3 boats. These should make awesome stocking stuffers for all the nephews and nieces.

Link is HERE

Dual motors, dual props. Looks like independent control of each motor.

Looks like each motor may have full forward or full reverse w/o any speed control, just a speculation.

Run one in full fwd and other in full reverse and you get a turning radius approaching zero, also known as a pivot steer. Full forward on both props, I'd hate to get caught in the wake of one of these babies.

Heh....funny.

These units have like a 10ft range at best..... a little ripple will swamp them....

they won't sink, but will partially fill with water and list.

I picked up one of these last time they were on sale. To be honest they aren't that great. They literally go out of range within 5 feet. I can't recommend it.

You can get these for dirt cheap at Raidentech.com. 4 for 20$ I believe, or as little as 4$ if you buy a carton of 48.
On the issue of the crap factor; it's fixable. With a little work with a soldering iron (removing the transmitter's range-limiter capacitor) and a new antenna (Anything copper works fine) and you can boost the range 500%. With a bit of foam (to keep it upright) and a second cell (you're likely to fry one of the RC circut boards during modifications anyway), they do'nt work half bad.

$19.95 with Free Shipping ain't a bad deal though. I read a post somewhere that said you can upgrade the motors to make them go faster. Anyone heard of that?

I know!!!

At the lake we have to keep the jetskis from creating wakes until like a 1/2 mile away from shore. SO, let's try to paddle these bad lads out until after we get 6 inches away from the bathtub wall please!

What are the battery requirements for these? I know the boat itself has a rechargable battery but what about the remote control unit and the battery recharger unit itself?

Thanks.

Only available in 49MHz frequency. If you buy more than 1, you will have a problem having tham all in the same pool or pond.

Is this true? This would make this a cold deal for me. I need to run at least two at a time.

Any response to my battery requirment questions (three posts up).

I got these today. They are pretty awesome! I bought 3. Two for my nephews and one for me. I put it in our community pool which is about 40 feet long and it had no problem going across the whole pool. Then I kept the boat in the pool and went up to my house which is up the hill about 50 feet from the pool and was running the boat in the pool from my balcony about 100 feet fro the pool. It works when you point the antenna directly towards the boat! My cat was going nuts trying to grab it out of the pool.

Basically there is a rechargeable battery built into the boat and the controller takes a 9 volt. The charger that recharges the boat takes 4 AAA batteries. I've been playing with the thing all weekend. I even whizzed it around in the bathtub for the cat. Overall i think it's an awesome deal and the kids will love them.

Bad thing about R/C boats: If it goes out of range, you might need to get in the water to be in range again. No problems with R/C cars.

nah it goes at least 50 feet. I've heard about the crappy ones that don't work but these actually go at least 50 feet out. Definitely a cool thing to have in the pool.

Can you tell me anything about control? Is it dual motor, forward and reverse for each? Pics? Anybody buying 2 or 3 and want to resell one to me? Thanks.

Best use for these:

put one in the toilet and flush.

Race your boat against the swirling currents to stay alive.

Watch out for logs though........
