Wow man. Great post for your pops. It makes me want to spend hours and hours more than I do with mine.

Sorry for your loss

Quite a guy, obviously. I lost my father in 2000. He was also a real star and will always be missed. We think of him a lot still. He lived by example, there wasn't a hypocritical bone in his body.

I still miss mine and it's been 43 years! Sounds like he was a fine man. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear that.

Those Heathkit projects were pretty popular. My grandfather, also a ham operator, used to love putting them together. He also passed. You still have that amp and cabinet?

My nickname on here is from my Dad and I's radio days.

He turns 70 in 3 weeks.

Doing that would be a fitting tribute.

I'm glad that I was able to put aside my adolecent 'hurt feelings' a long time ago and appreciate him as the man he was, warts, flaws and all.

LOL, no, I often wonder what became of that rig.
I think Mom donated it to my old Junior High school stage band after I went off to college.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
Losing a loved one is never easy, especially a parent, and doubly so if there were preventions that were not followed.

Alien's Rules of Life..... in no particular order, from the Continuing Series of the same Name......
A1AA. Use it or lose it. Your mind, body, whatever .... If it's not taken out of storage and dusted off and driven around the block for everyone to see, it's not doing anyone any good.
1. Always take pictures, never wait until "the next time", for there may be no 'next time'. < this one is really hard, as I did not follow it and now, well, it's too late.
2. Tell them you love them every time, without fail, even if that quotient is not at 100%.
3. We are all not so different.
4. Relax. Don't sweat the small stuff. "It" will all be over too soon, anyway.
5. If you're fat , lose some weight, at least move around more than the distance from the fridge to the TV. Watch your diet. You may get to watch your grandkids grow up that way.
6. You can buy new things, earn more money, whatever...Character & Integrity are not on sale, anywhere, despite what Wal-Mart wants you to believe.

< starting to sound like a Food nazi. Going to go clean up something.

You are not alone. My Dad died while I was flying from Florida to SoCal on 23 October, 2003 ... six years ago.

Sorry for your loss. I think your father must be proud of how you were brought up. You got to spend some great times with your father and have wonderful memories.

My dad passed away a few years back but most of my family and I didn't shed a tear. I hated the man. I have two kids and feel I will die a happy man if they grow up to be successful and they are truly sad and miss me when I'm gone.
