It should average out though.
Let's say the average age of the worlds population in 2005 was 40.00 (wild guess on my part).
Then ten years later, in 2015, the average should still be about 40.00 (with maybe a tiny increase, because of life expectancy improvements).
Not 40.00 + 10 = 50.00 years.
Otherwise we would be living till about 1,000,000,072 years old by now.
