Doesn't appear likely. AMD said they are coming soon when someone asked if they are delayed they said no. AMD never gave a date yet though, the 15th was picked out of some slides but wasn't the official date. Speculation is the 18th, 24th or the end of the month. Before BF4 anyways.

Thanks.

Remember when the gtx680 launched and some people thought it was only fair to compare the 7970 to the 680 at the same clock speeds? LOL that was some seriously butt-hurt 7970 owners trying to validate the $550 price tag for what was slower hardware at the time. Will Titan and gtx780 owners cry and want the same thing? God I hope not, but it would be ironically funny.

AMD/ATi always up to their bulldozer [redacted].

So it's AMD's fault that the hyperbole of the internet predicted the wrong release date? The wrong date for NDA's expiring?

I'd like to see the link to the official statement from AMD about today being the day for reviews and launch of the 290/290x.

After their fake launch-like-event and fake pre-order, I'm supposed to trust these people?

These forums are also packed with viral marketing for AMD.

Trust no one! Not even yourself as your human and humans tend to make bad decisions, judgment calls based on their current needs. Most people don't look at the long term effect of todays choice.

There is viral marketing from both those who favor AMD and NVidia on these forums.

The ones for Nvidia are not brain-dead stupid, so it's tolerable.

I don't quite remember a GPU launch in YEARS that had an imminent launch yet nobody knew what the imminent launch date was. I have a feeling that AMD is either stupid (I hope they learned lessons from the 7970 launch as they claim to have....) or they don't want NV to know jack. I really don't know. I can see valid opinions on both sides of this - I can see them trying to prevent a "1-up" from nvidia with a better price/perf 770ti (versus the 290 non X) or perhaps a GTX 790. Perhaps price cuts, which NV could definitely do to make AMD look bad if the launch had been on the 15th (with the NV Montreal event on the 17th). On the other hand, maybe AMD is just stupid. AMD management/marketing has been stupid once, twice, or several thousand times (last answer is correct)

I hope the card is 550-600$ (as channel pricing seems to be ATM) while trading blows with Titan and OC's well on air. If that happens, as far as i'm concerned, all is forgiven for the stupidest GPU launch in the past 5 years. If they price it at 700$+, I will join many others in snubbing AMD in the strongest terms.

Performance wise, AMD and nvidia both have a good idea how the other's products are going to perform shortly before launch. There is simply too much overlap between foundry, AIBs, reviewers, retailers etc that they don't become aware of how the other's products perform before launch. Heck, I would not be surprised if they both have a sample in house before the launch date.

I'm guessing either AMD is trying to amass a larger pile of these cards for launch or they're doing their best to hide the launch price of these cards.

We've seen several leaks of game benches at this point to see R9 290 = GTX 780, R9 290X > GTX 780 and R9 290X = Titan. I'm sure what AMD and nvidia care about is what most people interested in these cards wants to know now, how much are they going to cost ?

Baffled myself why they did not launch today though. Reviewers have had the cards a week now and they are still not launching.

Wild shot in the dark... they're trying to squeeze more gains out of a last minute driver for BF4 and which they will insist reviewers use.

BF4 won't even be in launch reviews, will it? The beta is set to end and the release for BF4 is on the 28th. The rumor for 290X is the 24th, although with the way things have been going lately...I could see that end up not being the case...

Considering reviewers already had the cards during the beta, we'll probably see benches done on that.

Will the A9 series be good for a ptrofessional application user, like autocad?

A friend of mine wants to upgrade for BF4, but he it also uses autocad for his livlihood.

In general, are high-end gaming cards also capable of Workstation duties? As the most powerful cards available, are their capabilities a superset of professional cards?

Thanks

I cant imagine worse timing in releasing new GPUs if they were not to include at least some indication of performance in a major game due out at almost the same time. I would think AMD already has the final and knows how it will perform on their cards.

From this article http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013...-for-battlefield-4-players-to-upgrade-to-ps4/

This holiday, DICE will unwrap the next generation of all-out warfare with Battlefield 4. That means best-in-class multiplayer is coming to PlayStation 4 with huge 64-player battles running at a smooth 60 frames-per-second.

Guessing the 290/290x won't have any issue running the game.

In just eight games in the test, we used a 1080P full HD resolution, 4MSAA anti-aliasing, the highest quality testing, performance results summarized below.R9 290X (tested only represents 6 games)

R9 290X PK R9 280X
+37%
R9 270X PK NVIDIA GTX780
+11%
R9 270X PK NVIDIA GTX TITAN
1%

Before the deadline, I received news, AMD on October 24 officially released in China and R9 290 R9 290X graphics, R9 290 performance will happen? R9 290X performance in the ultra-high-definition resolution with GTX TITAN what will happen? GCN general computing performance advantage, R9 290X another kind of surprise? October 24, PConline we will continue to bring you the latest and most detailed evaluation, so stay tuned.

Better than an announcement of an announcement though right?

Unless you're in the market this very instant, a delay shouldn't really affect you. Even if you ARE in the market...it's a video card, a delay shouldn't affect your life.

Not bad... Didnt expect it to match Titan much less surpass it in a few games
I wanna see higher res results, I have a feeling it will look even better at 1440p and 3 screen setup

Battlefield 3

Crysis 3

Metro: Last Light

Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Tomb Raider

Far Cry 3

That is VERY disappointing to see.

4 months after Nvidia released the GTX 780, AMD now release a GPU that is roughly at the same performance as the GTX 780? Maybe +5% when all games are accounted for.

What the hell? Where is the "Titan slayer"?
