The only thing that could possibly hold ATI down now are drivers, nVidia cant do anything right now to even touch the R300. Its a bit expensive but still people will buy it, I wont though.

Now...... any bets on how many months it will take for the first Directx9 game to come out?

The top of the line cards usually start at $399. The Ti 4600 started at that price point. But I wouldn't be surprised to see prices dropping within a month after the R300 becomes officially available.

All I gotta say is "WOW". Dang, I didn't think I'd ever see nVidia get such a whipping, especially with their next big gun months and months away. No doubt NV30 is gonna rock the world, but for now there's no doubt ATI is king.

I'm still thinking about getting a Parhelia card for my main "work" box, ATI or NV on the "game" box. If you're not a gamer and want the absolute best looking displays, Matrox cannot be beaten. I gave up my G400 for GF Ti4400 and have regretted it ever since. I just can't put my finger on what exactly it is (I don't know if it's measurable), but the Matrox cards just look more pleasing to the eye for me.

Indeed the heatsink art sucked. A nice shiny copper or silver finish goes well with red PCB ala the MSI K7T Turbo LE board with the sweet a$$ copper north bridge heatsink.

Just like that commercial for the game MindTrap used to say, "It's a game of oneupmanship, and your ship just came in"! Go ATI, it's your birthday! Woot Woot! That baby is gonna purr! This will give ATI the lead for some months, at least up until December. ATI seems to think that the GF5 won't hit the market until 2003, missing the holiday push. If they're right, then that could be very good for their sales. If they're wrong, well, they'll be in 2nd again, and at the wrong time of the year to be 2nd (Christmas). We shall see what NVidia can do, when their collective b@lls are in a sling. One thing is for sure, and that is that when NVidia does come out with their nex gen .13 micron process card, it will be running at higher clock speeds... but for now, ATI reigns! Long live the King!

Granted, but you get to walk like the big dog when you are first to the market. And by a good long while.

NV30 I'm sure will be spectacular, but will not hold the kinds of improvements that ATi has right now. ATi got the WOW factor by just obliterating Nvidia's big boy. The 4600 is a monster gaming card, and the Radeon 9700 just mopped the floor with it.
