R520 in September

If any of you are watching HardOCP QuakeCon Workshop the ATI represenative said R520 is coming next month.

We pretty much know the pricing. 149, 199, 249, 299, 349, 399, 449, 499, 549, 599, covers every market segment.

But did he bring a sample with him to show off? I would think they would have some samples out at least a month before an intended launch. Septmeber would be great. Early September, not late September :roll:

Unless something has nuked the TSMC plant, I'm sure it's a real launch with products readily available

I'll just wait until the G80 comes out before I make any final decision. After all, the G70 was supposed to compete with the X800, which it totally nuked out of the water. So the R520 is supposed to compete with the G80. I can deal with that.

Yeah...they are.

Considering the R520 is supposed to be 512mb, it will probably be $600 or more at release.

I would tend to think the G70 wasn't supposed to compete with the x800 series...that the G6 series did that.

I would think ATI just didn't have ANYTHING to compete with the G70, that they skipped that.

And then ATi have their new chipsets, XBox 360 and R520 to be released.
(Which also might suck up some money in research above what nVidia may comparably have to invest)

you don't think the r520 was designed to compete with the G70?

If all the rumors are true the reason why ATi didn't launch before was due to manufactureing problems.
