Agreed, I never fell for this top of the line BS , I have an X800XLright and the word awesome isn't enough, but what I am going to do a year from now once everything from this time becomes dirt cheap, I will grab a crossfire mobo, plus an additional X800XL and get nice boost , and save me a some freaking money, $ 599 my A$$.

I think the R520 launch is near as I read that the 530 has already shipped from the factory but ATI is holding off till the 520 is released. The release should be the end of august since ATI is selling the x850 for 229 at zzf or the x800xt agp for 220, they are unloding them in preparation for the launch. Oh and the last sing of eminent release is that ATI anounced the launch for mid Q3, which is august. September would be late Q3.

I can think of many good reasons why such a comparison would be important.... one of which would be that person with an x850 who's wondering just how much of a boost they would get with dual 7800GTXs.

Hell, once the GTX came out, the FIRST thing I looked for was to compare how much improvement there would be over my 6800GT SLI. I'm glad someone did those tests and posted the info because it helped me make my decision to keep my GTs for a little longer. The performance increase between the GTX and SLI 6800s is really only there at 20x15 and I play at 16x12, where the GTs perform just as good, if not better in many cases.

I'd ask why everyone cares if someone has a bias or not, but it sounds to me that everyone is more upset that he hasn't admitted he has a bias. Why does that matter to anyone? Geez. I'm not willing to admit that I like to spank myself and call myself b!tch when I masturbate.

I've said it before, and people keep proving it true. Rollo could post a thread asking what time it was, and the responses would be:

So I assume your one of those people who upgrade simply because there is something significantly faster out there and not because you ACTUALLY need to upgrade..Had you upgraded to a 7800GTX because it was significantly faster, you'd be as dumb as those people who buy new cars every year...

Um, that's the RV530, not the R520. Those specs definately put it in line to be a pretty good midrange contender, the only thing holding it back from truly being a much better deal than an X800XL or 6800GT would be its 128bit memory, although 1400MHz is nice, you usually don't buy a midrange for memory bandwidth intensive situations (ie high resolutions). 12 pipes @ 600MHz should be pretty good GPU power...and most likely boasting a $199-249 price tag to boot.

Things are definately getting interesting. Whatever nVidia cooks up with their midrange should be nice to see as well, they did awesome with the 6600GT, I'd be suprised if they let ATI run away with it in this round, but so far ATI seems to have a good contender in the midrange which they definately did not have that great of right off the bat for their X series.

They seem to be only so-so in the low, looks like X600 performance with new features to me. Although if all their stuff is on the 90nm process, perhaps we're looking at some sick overclockers?

Hopefully the XL/XT suffix means the same as in the X800 series, so it will be same card clocked differently. Then I definately don't mind the XL comming first.
