Thanks.

I won't bother clicking it, who knows what else is loading onto your computer from that site.

or your could use some firefox extension. adblocks takes care of the ads, no script, and no flash (don't remember name) remove other problems

I think it's more likely that he doesn't want to read about the possiblity of the Nvidia 8800GTX being beaten by the R600 than being worried about a tracking cookie.

If there'd been anything malicious on the site I'm sure somebody here would've noticed it and warned everyone by now.

No, I am actually thanking him for warning everyone to not click on a worthless link.

As for the GTX being beaten by the R600.......I will have to check Newegg to see how much a "R600" is selling for.

When does the R600 actually come out?
And judging by some of the results in that article. I'd say they were definitely fake.

I get much better results from my 8800 GTS!

I think it's probably real-ish, that being AMD marketing. I'm currently using an ATI chip but I'm finished with them unless they address the following items..

- Wide screen support where 1:1 pixel scaling doesn't get passed on to the panel.
- Better energy efficiency than Nvidia.

I think these are real. Someone said that the GTX defeats the Crossfire, so I started checking some different sites and the crossfire wins most of the time against the GTX. So that part of the article seems plausible, which makes me think that based on the detail of how this part came about to be secured for tested makes me believe these are real.

I suppose it's worthless to somebody who lives, eats and breathes Nvidia. But to the rest of us who like to have choices, it's potentially valuable information.

I was talking only about performance which is why I said "beaten", not "being outsold by". As you very well know, the R600 isn't supposed to be out until the end of this month.

The site was created on December 26.....yeah....that sounds real.

No pictures. No real proof. Nothing but made up text. I guess if you are desperate you are willing to believe anything.

I was a little surprised, too, but I have faith in Dailytech. Let's not forget it was them who was the first to disclose the 128 unified shader architect, and much of G80's specs back in October.

Yeah , i think the same .
Any rumors about next generation 8800GTS equivalent or maybe ATI just gonna launch a R600 against the 8800GTX ?

Basicly just the cores that dont make the cut will be clocked down and then you will get your GTS counter. Just like x1800xl and x800xl

My ATi card's driver can scale all kinds of different widescreen resolutions without stretching them to fit the screen.

Not according to Dailytech:

Kristopher Kubick:
The specs we have are from three weeks ago. We stopped publishing GPU roadmaps because the manufacturers change the numbers so often. Some of our information doesn't line up with theirs -- we were told the GDDR3 version was not even going to ship.

Im leaning toward "tech preview" on january 22th and then the real launch around March. If it was too launch at the end of this month, almost everything has to be ready by now (final silicon taped out 2~3 months ago). The cards should be in reviewers hands by now, and more leaks should be around. Most vendors should have the R600 by now and getting sufficent amount of them in stock at an acceptable level.

So im leaning toward a 'tech preview" kind of launch. (paper launch?) The initial launch might include a GDDR3 version of the R600 while the real thing will ship with GDDR4.

But by this time (3~4 months after G80 launch), i would suspect G81 is in the works along with the mid/low range line up.

LOL! Now you are really reaching. Why not post pictures of the card and screenshots of the driver etc. You could photochop the pics in about 2 seconds to hide any identifying marks.

Besides with all those ads, AMD could simply contact google or whoever and find out who is making money from the site.

Then you have a panel that doesn't auto-scale (stretch) 4:3 and 5:4 ratios. For people that have these types of panels though, ATI simply doesn't work. Nvidia on the other hand inserts black bars at the driver level to preserve the image ratio. ATI's method is to let the monitor decide what it wants to do with the image, which means auto-stretch in certain cases.

Hmm...

All I know is that widescreen resolutions are pretty much the only thing that scale right with ATi's drivers and my panel. 4:3 and 5:4 ratios, not so much.

I think AMD Graphics division will do a lot better job of sticking to deadlines under the new management.

With my VX2025, only certain 4:3 resolutions scale 1:1 (1360x1024 and 1400x1050) while pretty much all the wide screen resolutions scale, which leads me to be believe it's just a driver issue.

Supreme Commander is DX10?

Yes, there will be an option that one can enable for DX10 mode (granted they have a DX10 system).

And DX10 mode will offer what? A little bit of smoke or just increased speed. I expect it will be a couple of years before we see games designed that fully utilize dx10.

Ok ......... reading up more across other boards it seems backing level505 is doing a lot of harm to dailytech's reputation.

Just read Kris Kubicki's comments in the article and it looks like he is not sure of a lot of things himself.

Was backing the article by dailytech a little premature?

Is it real or not? Why shouldn't it be? Seems like its inline with what was exspected.
Some said numbers don't match other review site scores. Since there seems to be AMD employees involved in this review. The test were likely done with AMD processors . Almost all reviews were done using Intel processors on the 8800gtx. The amd processors using the 8800gtx at these res. Are quite abit lower than Intel processor numbers. So they are actually very close to being correct.

Well that makes no sense at all. Why would AMD chaps use Intels processor to Show R600 results.
