I think both the G80 and R600 will come with its own power bricks.Like the old ASUS EAX 1800 xt TOP.Only a bit more beefier.
Cause if the G80 is anything to go buy.If u want to run it,u need to pci-e connectors. And if u want to sli them,u need 4.Which is only there on very few PSU's.Like tagan,PC Power and Cooling and the enermax galaxy.(thats all i know anyway)

Now that's a slogan! ATI should use it!

I hope the ATI cooling solution is quiet for once!!!! I can't stand X1800/X1900 series stock cooling (always buy an Accelero). The fact that they mention "4-heatpipe cooling" is encouraging - at least they realize they're going to update the cooling (significantly) for that kind of wattage.

ATI fixed their cooling problems already. I can barely hear my x1950xtx. Plus, I know this doesn't matter for most, but it looks like a beast in my computer.

Ahh - good call! Forgot about that!

I doubt it. They've already implemented the new SLI-like connectors in the X1950 Pro. We'll find out if DFI ever gets their RD600 chipset Lanparty out. I've been waiting forever for that to get to market as I've been hearing nothing but sweet things about it.

EDIT: Reason why I say we'll find out with the launch of a motherboard is because they will probably have the SLI-like connectors included just as the SLI motherboards do.

I don't know how well the SLI-like connection will work with higher end cards like the 1950xtx. Part of the problem from my understanding is that the pci-e interface can't transmit the info fast enough. Though i could be mistaken. I could be thinking of doing crossfire with out any SLI-like Connectors like with the old x1900gt's (uh x1900gt's are old now...lol). Oh well time will tell. I too can't wait for the RD600 from DFI. DFI not having a lanparty board out now is one of the main things keeping me from Core2Duo.

The X1950XTX doesn't even have the SLI-like connections we're talking about.

I bet Shuttle reads stuff like this and gets pissed. How are we going to build a SFF with a 1000W PSU that will fit these monsters.

I thought its the Sli-like connector that couldn't transmit the info fast enough....

The PCI-E interface was originally the only lanes for that kind of traffic and any other excessive amount would need the aid of the SLI bridges to my understanding. (Or in the case of the X1k series a external dongle). The reason why they're going with the SLI-like connector is to:

A) Go without dongles.

B) Provide a three way communication path between three GPU's--two for graphic rendering and one for physics. Not only that but the send and recieve capabilties are more efficient than the traditional SLI capabilities.

At least that's what I've been hearing.

Not likely.

Shuttles aren't designed for hardcore gamers.

The percentage of the market needing high end video cards for shuttles = tiny...

With long cards, might be looking at some new cases. Or reduction of usable expansion ports, etc. etc.

I'm sure after the long hot 300w's of fury, their expansion ports are still useable, just, you know, a bit sensitive for a day or so.

a thermal pad or a little paste will help with the burn
