gtx770 is certainly not $75 faster, maybe $10-20 faster. Gtx 770 is generally ~5% faster, winning more in nvidia friendly games, losing in amd friendly games

Newegg does have a refurb 290 for $339 if you feel lucky.

280x all day long,the 770 which i own isn't a bad card but some newer games are already demanding 3gb+ vram for certain textures in games like Titanfall, Sleeping Dogs and Wolfenstein.

Can't push Insane textures in Titanfall on my 2gb 770 at 1366x768, got the performance but enabling those textures drag my fps all the way into the lower 30s.....:'( Lack of vram causes this.

Forget any 2gb card if you are considering a 280x.

I would go with an R9 290, 4gb ram, newer than 280x supports more things like free sync, better mantle support, and a good bit faster. Only slightly more expensive than the 770.

You can actually find some great deals on it on ebay.

The 280X and 770 perform about the same at 1080p with the 280X taking the lead at 1600p. 280X is the easy answer at those prices. Like Paul98 mentioned though, a used 290 is also a very attractive option. You can pick up aftermarket versions on Ebay for around $200.

The GTX 770 is dropping in price soon, so you might want to wait for that and pick up the 770.
