R9 290X launch delayed

According to the information we received from manufacturer AMD has postponed the launch of the Radeon R9 290X.

long story short it is not October 15th and the final date has not been disclosed yet.

You’ve all seen previous embargo date which has been changed to an unknown date. AMD is yet to decide when the R9 290 series will be announced. It is said that Battlefield 4 launch date is now being discussed. From what I’ve learned AMD did not yet deliver the samples to all major reviewing partners. The rumor has it that AMD has problems delivering units, not only to reviewers but also to etailers offering Battlefield 4 bundle (that would explain why Newegg has not yet started its preoder).

Someone said Linus has one. I doubt they sent samples to a few reviewers but not all of them. Where was the 15th set in stone, did amd say that date themselves or was it just speculated?

I doubt they'd delay it.

Of course I’m talking about the embargo on the reviews, I’m not sure how is this going to work with so many cards listed at etailer’s websites. You will probably be able to preoder them, but you also will have to wait for the delivery.

This launch has become an absolute joke. Right from the get go AMD has proven to completely incompetant. The press event in Hawaii couldn't have been any less professional, between the terrible stream and actual presentation.

They claimed a preorder date that came and went without a single explanation on why it never happend. Futhermore they expected a pre order without a shred of info regarding the card like price or launch date..... all they said was that it would have a built in audio.

Now we get a delay just before the embargo lifts...... WTF?

I am a long time suppoter of Radeon products but AMD has tarnished what ATi built IMO.

Of course they did manage to delay any purchases of Nvidia cards while stringing people along. Perhaps that was their intentions from the get go.

Roy@AMD is saying the launch is still on schedule. Hasn't clarified if the NDA release was bumped back, though.

There has not been a official release date set by AMD....Just internet hyperbole date of the 15th.

Mantle is not magic it is application.Mantle can only gain 10 to 20% and it depend on hardware.
Well it is AMD they hype so much like but at the end there user only get disappointed

They've already demo'd BF4 running with what appears to be very high settings in eyefinity, not a big leap from that to 4K so this isn't surprising.

It's also doubtful that BF4 really needs four titans to play at 4K. I'm sure they would do fine with only two.
