This guy is good at making joke lol even r290x will be around 5 to 10% not more.
Mantle is not magic it is application.Mantle can only gain 10 to 20% and it depend on hardware.
Well it is AMD they hype so much like but at the end there user only get disappointed

Very well could be taking the piss out of everyone. A little brevity is good to break the tension.

As far as the part of your post I put in bold, the only way you would know that is if you had benches, Do you? If so, please show us. Or, are you just making a joke as well? :sneaky:

I think he may be getting these number based on how much DirectX is estimated to slow up the whole process. It is guess that DirectX takes up 20% of the process between frames.

That's fine. My point is that he is guessing and it's being stated as an absolute. People really need to stop doing that, IMO.

Also, speaking of absolutes, where is the source in the title so we can know this is simply a rumor? Especially since they even admit the only thing they heard was that the review NDA has been put on hold. Seems like a bit of a stretch to call the release delayed with no disclaimers at all.

We have a few months to know. Mantle has not been implemented in any games yet.

I'll also suspect the first few versions of it will have little to no improvement, and possibly a lot more bugs to deal with. Mantle is not much different than DirectX, except it also "allows" for much closer to the hardware calls. However, it is also very high level as well. I'd bet the first few implementations will be limited on how many low level calls will be used.

I was referring to whether or not the NDA and thus reviews would be released on the 15th, but yes, for Mantle, we will have to wait until December. At that time, we should know what kind of frame rates consoles get in BF4 and perhaps we could get a ballpark estimate on how much improvement Mantle might bring out.

We won't know that the launch is delayed, just the NDA for reviews. Has there even been a launch date announced?

At this point, there's so much conflicting information coming in that I don't know what source to trust anymore, so I'm not even sure if the NDA expiration date on the reviews indeed is postponed or not. VC seems to be the only one stating that it is, but they are only one source.

If the 15th rolls around and we got nothing, then we know how much of the article is BS.

Not to my knowledge there hasn't been.

This from Brent @ [H]
Can't be a delay if a release date was never announced in the first place. AMD has not disclosed any NDA date yet on 290/X, official word we have always had, since being briefed on R7 and R9 series, in regards to 290/X is: "NDA to be determined" So, I have no idea where people ever got the date of the 15th from. Complete internet made up rumor.

The Mel Gibson in me wonders if this "delay" rumor is just propaganda to get the 280x cards moving. I've been keeping track of 280x stock on newegg. Most cards (other than the Asus DC and Sapphire Toxic) have been in stock all day today, but about 2 hours after this article went out 2 other models have sold out...

We got it from this image:

Whether or not that whole "Under embargo until Oct. 15, 2013 @ 12:01 AM EST" pertains to reviews/launch is another entire story, however...

R290X could come out in 2015 and it would never have been delayed, the beauty of never setting a release date is you are never late, much like a wizard.

you don't know the difference between not setting a release date and not revealing an exact release date to the general public before the NDA expires and reviews are up. the window of launch was known to retailers and thats why they started accepting pre-orders.

"THIS IS NOT AN R290X FOR £99 - THIS IS A DEPOSIT for PRE-ORDER SLOT ONLY! YOU WILL NEED TO PAY ADDITIONAL MONEY MID - END OCTOBER!! "

http://www.anandtech.com/show/2977/...x-470-6-months-late-was-it-worth-the-wait-/20

to remind you nvidia cleared the NDA on GTX 480 on mar 26, 2010 and retail availability was apr 12, 2010. in this case AMD is actually going to have a lesser gap between NDA expiry and retail availability

your attempt at ridiculing AMD is pathetic.

When was the last time a company made people preorder blindly without any specs, performance or any price?

"THIS IS NOT AN R290X FOR £99 - THIS IS A DEPOSIT for PRE-ORDER SLOT ONLY! YOU WILL NEED TO PAY ADDITIONAL MONEY MID - END OCTOBER!! "

And we are already in mid october. Using the term mid to late essentially means they got no date.

AMD cleared NDA on the HD7970 22nd december, but you couldnt buy one until january 8th or something. But its completely irrelevant in this case. Paper launches are one thing. At least with paper launches you know price, performance and specs. The 290X so far have been nothing but an utter PR disaster and alienating of anyone but the most diehard fanboys. Distributors cant be happy either. Newegg wont even take preorders.

your attempt at ridiculing AMD is pathetic.

Pre-order or I kill you!

Cmon people. What is the deal? Don't know what to do with your money? Buy me an upgrade. Or give to charity, that is cool too.

this is something I don't support. so I agree with you.

means they did not get exact date. I am a firm believer that the NDA expiry and retail availability must be same day. if thats not possible atleast the gap needs to be less than a week. in this case AMD is making sure the gap between NDA expiry and retail availability is as small as possible. my guess is reviews go up in the next 2 - 3 days. I am sure AMD want to mention this product launch in their earnings call on Oct 17th evening. my guess for retail availability Oct 18th or Oct 23rd.

http://techreport.com/news/25485/maingear-taking-pre-orders-for-radeon-r9-290x-powered-pcs

"Interestingly, Maingear says both systems will ship on October 23 if ordered today. AMD has yet to announce a release date for the R9 290X, but perhaps this could be it."

Paper launches are one thing. This launch sets a whole new boundary.
the NDAs are not yet up. so this launch is actually not doing anything which has not been done earlier. what AMD did do differently was livestream the event and talk about the R9 290 series giving small tidbits to general public and detailed information to tech press who are under NDA. that has built a lot of hype with specs being known to almost everyone through leaked slides.

You should really read twice what you write
I gave the right reply.there are people who just want to criticize, ridicule and make sarcastic comments about AMD.

I said earlier that the best time to release R290/R290X is with Battlefield 4's retail release. Send a copy to reviewers with the cards and have it release on the 29th.

It's the benchmark of the year and the game that moves the most hardware, assuming they sweep the benchmarks for the game with the 290 cards which you'd assume with them having the official video cards of the game, it's the smartest time to release the cards.
