Hi. I am selling my R9 390 MSI gaming edition because it's so freaking loud and gets very very hot on idle. Oh, and the card is FREAKING huge it takes up all my PC space!!!!! I want a card that is a huge improvement from my last one. I want a card that gives me mega more fps from my last. I want a card that is not noisy and can handle the heat!

Price range under £400 if possible under £350? I don't care about 4k gaming or 2k or 1k or 7k or 12k gaming... I only play on 1080p

Thanks

No card.
A nano would give you somewhat an upgrade being small, but this will throttle and run hot. a Fury is the best you can go .but both are not smart buys as new cards are coming and nobody knows how they will perform.

Neither 1070 nor Polaris are out yet so no idea which is better or even if they will be in the same price brackets.
Do you know the release date? also lets say both of them dont exist which card would you reccomend me?

Polaris will probably be better price/perf, as AMD has constantly been. If they have a card in the performance range you want is unknown. We can't say when they will be available. More info in the next week or so.

TBH, Might as well buy a proper case, the MSI 390 IMO isn't that big, the G1 970 or the Sapphire Nitro 390 are LONG CARDS. (for this generation, not talking about some stupidly long 5970/6990)

The MSI 390 is not a bad card, if its overheats (Like running at 80C)
a. your ambient temperature of the room is high.
b. the airflow in your case sucks.
c. both.

the Card should be hot at idle as it supposed to be with fans off. if you don't like that you can create a custom fan curve that will run the fans at low RPM if the card is above 30C. (the fans will be off when your computer is in idle and screen off with the ZeroCore future that turns of most of the GPU when not needed) if you one of those to leave the PC on the night.

Your complain about noise is valid. However why do you care how hot something is in your desktop computer if that thing is built to sustain it?

You are looking to upgrade a fairly high end card and you are complaining about size? High end PC gaming does come in discrete size so again your needs and demands are contradictory.

The GTX 1080 is pretty much the only card which satisfies your criteria of "mega more fps" than your current card. We will have to wait for 1070 reviews to see how it stacks up against the 390.

Ok forget the heat. The noise is just to much. I can't stand it. I am sending it back to MSI anyways to get it checked out.

Well, this is the MSI 970 (same length as the MSI 390) vs a Sapphhire Nitro 390..

this is a a DEVIL 13 7990..

OR this 680 SUPER OVERCLOCK from GIGABYTE..

What case do you have, whats the temperature in the room (usually), did you clean your pc/fans/GPU, Maybe the fan placement isnt optimal, bunch of fans + bad airflow can cause high tamps too.

GTX 1070/1080/980Ti are the only viable upgrades, but it assumes you will overclock your i7 2600 to 4.5Ghz+. If not, expect your CPU to hold back those cards by 20-30% in some titles at 1080p. Also, all of those cards are overkill for 1080p 60Hz. Why do you want "mega FPS" increase on a 60Hz monitor? Either get a Polaris 10 card or GTX1070/1080 with a 120-144Hz 1080 screen or upgrade to 1440p. Next gen cards are not a good fit for 1080p 60Hz and especially not with a stock i7 2600.

Facepalm again. You already NEED a 980Ti to max out a few games at 1080p so how on earth can it be "overkill" to buy a GTX 1080 for 1080p?

Ive heard the 1070 is not worth it
It's not "worth it" from an abstract "jump from previous gen/price-perf" perspective.

In terms of solving your heat and noise problem while giving you a lot of frames... it's worth it.

First of all he actually has a fairly great CPU and if overclocked is hardly a bottleneck at all. Even at stock its about FINE.

Secondly this is again a bad argument. Like all PC gamers he would eventually upgrade his CPU and restricting your GPU purchase just for your current CPU is illogical. Incremental upgrades are the beauty of PC gaming and sometimes your PC might end up being a little unbalanced which is totally fine.

I feel this is a troll thread. He said his MSI 390 is noisy and generates too much heat. That its too big.And that he needs something that is much more powerful, more quieter, generates less heat all for 350 pounds.Sounds like a troll thread.

at £350 there is only one choice...the gtx 1070 which gives you mega more fps at 1080p then your r9 390...polaris should be about on par with what you already have perhaps at lower price?!...certainly at lower power consumption.

you could wait for vega, but big pascal is going to release at the same frametime aswell and i got a slight feeling it would be way faster...

The reason to wait for Vega/1080ti etc would be the effects on pricing. There'll be a 1070/80 competitor in there, so fair chances of getting say a 1080/equiv in Vega terms for current 1070 prices.

It'd be quite a wait mind, and the 1070 should be quite suitable if explicitly after small/quiet but fast at 1080. Check the reviews when they come I suppose.

So where's the mythical 1070, that can be bought for all of £350 right now :hmm:

In the UK it'll likely debut closer to £400 & that's assuming non FE cards will be available near or just after launch.

The p10 will likely be better perf/$ (or pound) depending on its initial clock speeds & whether it comes with GDDR5x.

I see. It's still huge!

I have the Thermaltake Versa H25 Tower Case with USB 3 Side Window and 12 cm Fan - Black

2 fans. 1 front and back
