Well I'll turn up the volume. I just brought up a dual socket Xeon, bringing up another one shortly. This evening I'll add at least 8 more cores.

I wish my mega-cruncher/dora game-player wasn't down... It was pumping out 20k ppd in seti for the past year+, but the ip35 pro finally kicked the bucket. And I'm too cheap to buy a new rig until I see some BF deals...

Are you asking what should you do when the race is over?

If that is so then you can continue to crunch Correlizer, if you like to aid in that project, or you can check the DC forums and see if there's another race going or you can look up another project and simply crunch for the benefit.

finally - you can opt to no longer help on any crunching (strongly discouraged - :biggrin

I added the URL in your OP.. and it downloaded a task. It took about 14 minutes to finish the task.. and I did not know what to do after that.

I feel stupid.. just for asking, but I want to help.

Bring up the Boinc client, select the projects tab, click on Correlizer and then click on the update button. You may have to do this a couple of times to actually see some movement...but space it by a couple of minutes.

I hope more WU will start to come down to your machine.

Also go into your Correlizer Preferences, in your account, and make sure only "Correlizer Applications" is checked from the applications list and finally check the box that says "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?".

Make sure to click on update after you're done.

Kind of wish I didn't look...

~430 watts with all six cores pegged for this project. I'm not at all worried about the cost, the nerd side of me just wishes for more efficiency.

what are your CPU, CPU-NB voltages?

And while you're at it, would you consider doing a quick test at stock speeds/volts? Though if you're too engrossed by correlizer to reboot a couple of times, I totally understand

On second thought nvm, the AT review places a 1100T system's load power consumption @ 160W. Good enough for me.

Edit again: though their OC'd to 3.96GHz load power results place the system at 195W...

I have an old motherboard, MSI K9A2 Platinum with a 790FX chip, AM2+ with four 2GB sticks of DDR2 @ 866MHz and 2.1v. My CPU is set to 1.47v, and I forget the NB voltage. So I am overvolted and overclocked, and I have older components that are likely less efficient. But, man, that's a big difference. I have a 1TB drive and a 640GB drive, one optical drive, six 120mm fans all slowly spinning (I like the quiet!). So, I don't know why there is such a discrepancy, unless this set up is really this inefficient.

Yeah, it's a bus OC on a $50 Microcenter special CPU, and the board is a $50 3 year old ASRock A780FullHD. To be honest, I'm a little surprised the board let me take the bus to 250. At least it will keep my power usage in check, the CPU seems to be voltage locked at 1.35V, which is a good thing, because I pay almost $0.30 per KW/H. (DAMN YOU CON ED!!!!)

My computer has been churning through units for quite some time today.. all 8 threads have progressed from 0% to 100% many times. My account shows 0 credit with 0 pending credit. Is something amiss, or does it take the server a while to "catch up" and reflect work already done? My user ID is 1071.. same handle as I use here on AT.

No...someone else has to run the same WUs that you completed for validation. Once that is done credit will come.
Sometimes it does take some time to get credit.

OK, I joined with a 1090t AMD hex @ 4 ghz, but it says "no work available to process" in the boinc window.

Edit: now its working, but only using 34% of the cpu ??? 2 cores of 6 ?

You Sir are my hero. The board I'm using doesn't handle CNQ, but this CPU will gladly run at 1ghz and 0.8v, which should get me MUCH better idle power consumption than 3.4ghz and 1.325v.

However, unless I can figure out how to get MSRTweaker and BOINC to play nice, and crunch units at this ridiculously low power state, you might have taken me out of the competition here. Unfortunately like Manhattan rents, Manhattan power prices are brutal.

I've been meaning to get into some folding (would be my first) since I think it'd be fun to help out and put my cheap kWh to use. I'm not sure how much a Q9400 @3.2GHz would help, but why not - right?
