Racism/Discrimination in America...

I think everyone from every race is racist. In my experience minorities are more racist that caucasians.

I couldn't give a damn about it. Actually I think those events programs are just intended to get an audience, a way of advertising to a certain demogrphic for the purpose of making money.

I am a minority and I find the whole race thing anywhere to be retarded. People need to get over themselves and stop self-segregating. When I was in highschool most people sat with people colored like them. The worst IMO, from what I saw, were the Muslims and the Black Americans(African Americans? what is this title? Dual Continentship?). But there was always the one white guy who thought he was "black" at that table.

I do not see a need for race identification except for descriptive references.

And that reply is a complete copout. If it's off-limits for one group of people to do something, yet just fine for another - that's inequality. Is white racism gone in America today? Not even close - but it IS guarded against, and that's a good thing.

The problem is people tend to think that their skin color means they should act in manner typical to their race. If black people don't act "black" they get made fun of by their own kind and vice versa for whites. In other words, people let their skin color define who they are.
America should have a single dominant culture for all ethnicities regardless of orgin. Subcultures just create division. Take the positive aspects of each culture and create a new improved one.

Cigarettes are usually cheaper on a reservation as well. Most reservations aren't subject to the same taxes. They could be excluding "white" because they are not residents of the reservation and they can legally offer that discount to residents. But if it a case of just pulling up to the pump and being native american looking and getting cheaper gas.. then that surely is discrimination.

You want to talk about discrimination? Go visit any "American Indian" reservation.
While I certainly won't disagree that in the early years, black people were treated VERY poorly, (and in many ways, still are), their treatment pales by comparison to the way the "Native Americans" were (and still are) treated. As Russell Means once said about having to deal with the white bureaucracy called the "Bureau of Indian Affairs":
" Let?s create a bureau of Jewish affairs and see how long that lasts, or a bureau of African affairs."
(Yes, I have family who lives on a res in South Dakota)

There's an old racist joke that says something about the reason there are so many black people, is because the whites never got around to playing "cowboys and n*ggers".
That says a lot about the way the American Indian was treated in our history

Yes, we humans have a terrible history when dealing with people who are look differently or believe in a different god than ourselves...

However, more on topic, I disagree with the Black Entertainment Television, Black Entertainer Awards, Black or Jewish anything...Let's just do away with the whole idea of racially separating ourselves...that only serves to drive wedges between us as humans...
If you're an American, then you're an American, not a white-American, black-American, asian American, etc...

People still have a long time to go before they forgive. Forgetting is something that we should not do, however. Lets go back to around 500 years ago of this country (America). One group of mistreated people and other explorers and others seeking a better life came here. They then abused and mistreated the people who were already living here. The excuse was to cleanse the forest of the Devil and to purify the land - supposedly in the name of religion. (This is an extremely simple explanation, due to time constraints). But we know that religion is just an excuse for people to fall back on.

Then came slavery, and after slavery came hardship for Africans and African Americans and other minorities. That level of mistrust, and in some cases, hatred, is still present today. Can you really blame them?

A lot of racism originates from ignorance and once a person is educated, that racism can go away - unless, that person chooses to fight education and tries his or her hardest to remain ignorant. There is no simple, easy answer, but I think education and experiencing life are some of the ways to bring people together.
