Yeah, but what brand? Something like this has to be a name-brand, tested unit you can depend on or else there's no use in buying one.

It seems to be a Whistler. I have one from years ago that looks like this one, found it on another site for $49.95. Link here:

This thing is nowhere near the quality or reliability of a Whistler. It is an off brand called Early Warning that I wouldn't trust, regardless of how sweet this deal might seem. Whistlers have always ranked high in there respective price categories when compared to other brands, such as Bel, PNI, and Cobra. The only two that can really outshine all other detectors are Escort and the Valentine One. Click on the link below to read the tests and reviews on several makes and models.

I had a whistler (forgot what model but it cost about 150). It's not reliable. Falses at everything. Don't even waste money on anything besides V1 or escort. I have a V1 and wondered how I drove without it.

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned this but this site's merchandise according to themselves is 95% reconditioned. But they hide that fact real well and that pisses me off. If you are dishonest in one way, it is likely that you are dishonest in many other ways.

I just clicked on FAQ and found this:
Q: Are your products new or reconditioned?
A: 95% of our products are new. If something is reconditioned, there will be an (R) to the right of the model number, and our Factory Renewed Logo will appear in the upper right hand corner of the Detailed picture of the merchandise. Our ninety day warranty will apply.

I wouldn't necessarily call that a "hide the fact real well" thing.

Honest and reputable merchants inform you when you order an item if the merchandize is refurbished. This site does not. In fact such info is explicitly included in honest merchant?s invoices. Not in this case. This is a dishonest site and I would not order from it even though their prices are good.

I also clicked on their FAQ and found the same after I got suspicious. But that was not the first click after my suspicion. It took me several clicks. Perhaps I am not that smart.

Whistlers are very poorly rated and I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. The only ones worth having are BEL, Escort and Valentine.
