I've posted this issue before and have never come to a full resolution on this yet. I was running my current set up for quite some time until one day my system started rebooting randomly and was hot to the touch. After looking more it became apparent that the video card was very hot to the touch. A friend at work insisted it was the power supply so I replaced the power supply and it didn't seem to help. I still had to leave the case open to prevent the temperatures from rising really high.

Currently running ATI Tool it says fans are at 100%, GPU is 86%, and temp of temp chip was 80%. Case is open and if I run anything like a game or the Scan for Artifacts in ATI Tool, all of the temps rise continuously until the computer shuts down.

At this point I'm going to pick up a new video card and try that because I'm not sure what else to do...and I guess I'll go Nvidia this time...

You tried reseating the cooler with AS5?

This may void your warranty, so if you're still under warranty maybe you should just RMA the thing.

I assume you mean the cooler on the video card. There is no warranty on the card but reseating anything is beyond my expertise.

Have you tried adding a fan in your case that will either blow directly on card or another fan to exhaust air out of your case. What kind of case is it? Are you sure its due to high temps and are you monitoring temps with any programs or just guessing?

There is an extra fan in both the front and the back. As for temperature, I am going off the temperatures ATI Tool are displaying to me.

do you own a screwdriver? and/or some needle-nose pliers? if yes, do you know how to use one?

Screwdriver yes. I have never done any reseating so consider toying with computer parts like that beyond my expertise. Nervous to break it for good.
