Many reviews show an overclocked 8800 GT exceeding 2900xt Crossfire in many games. Crossfire is used by less than 1% of gamers because it has so many problems.

SLI is also used by less than 1% of gamers. There were plenty of problems with Vista and SLI for a long time.

I would say that 99% of gamers & even a higher percentage of PC users overall don't use any dual card solution particularly for playing games. When a dual card solution costs more than a PS2 or Xbox360 the consoles usually win out. Still many in this forum are enthusiasts so we may account for the 1%.

mvave is a good find, even at 239 + shipping when you consider that newegg has been oos for over 24 hrs now. I would still wait b/c newegg is obviously NOT going over msrp no matter what, but if you're in a hurry "a bird in the hand.."

XFIRE is used by a very low % of all computer users b/c it is buggy as hell and costs too much money for the benefit that you get out of it. If a game has decent xfire drivers it will destroy 8800gt/gtx/ultra, unfortunately most games don't have good drivers yet. 3870 might end up being a different story, but by the time it really shines there will be r680 and/or r700...the cycle never ends...

OK, I just got back from Mars, I never heard of HIS before, even though their website states they were established in 1987. Didn't they manufacturer a line of men's clothing.

they can't be any worse than sapphire. AMD vendors are as follows: visiontek>all others>sapphire. HIS, gecube, powercolor,etc pretty much all are 1 yr warranty. VT is the only "lifetime" warranty company amd has.

I am hoping the 3870 ushers in a new era of Xfire gaming. LOL(Just because I have bought two of them ). This will be my first venture into Xfire and I am hoping it will be a good experience. But if it is not I will change back to single card solutions.

Its white box. I really dislike buying whitebox items. And its $20 over MSRP. I think I'll wait till Monday and see whats availble. Hopefully stores will get something in then or maybe Tuesday.

that's funny that frys is showing a $20 rebate when nobody even has them in stock right now. I couldn't find the rebate anywhere else, either, though I wouldn't be surprised if they don't come out with them if/when 8800gt 512 dips below $250.

Ugghhh...this is so hard. I have an 8800GT on backorder with Best Buy (and the GT performs 10 frames better than the 3870 at my 16x10 res), but Fry's has it so cheap! Does anyone know if they have it in stock?

that fry's deal is not real b/c it's on backorder. if you don't have to have it in the next week or two then you're better off waiting to see what else shakes out. That powercolor 3850 with 512 mb and 720/900 would look awfully enticing to me if I hadn't already gotten the 3870.

edit: when you factor in ground shipping for 7.73, it's 217.72 for fry's with only the diamond and no idea as to when it will be available, plus you have to mess with a $20 mir. I'm STILL waiting for a $30 sapphire mir from july , so you're taking a chance with that. newegg is $225 shipped. it's oos, too, but they have four different models to choose from and you can just keep checking them until it comes in stock.

Realistically, it's not fair to list either site right now since both are oos/pre-order. You should list the lowest price that is currently available.
