Is it worth upgrading from a Geforce GTX 760 to a Radeon 470/480? Am I better off getting a Geforce 970 at a great price?

3.5 GB gtx 970 is a bad move in Sep 2016.

Better get a 4GB 470/4GB 480/8GB 480 & you'd b set for DX 12 1080p gaming for years to come..

Also, dont buy Asus Strix 470.. ineffective design that overheats VRM area. Strix 480 is alright..

Sapphire Nitro 470/480, MSI gaminh GI 480, Gigabyte GI gaming , XFX etc are all better options..

As long as it's the 6gb version, same goes for the 480, get the 8gb.

Its performing better in DX 11 games but it's slower in DX 12 games. Furthermore, performance on 470/480 increases when game gets a DX 12 patch.

As more and more games are getting DX12 , & future games will b DX 12, a 470/480 is the better option going forward.

Any of the 470/480's will be worth the upgrade. For AMD graphics cards I stay away from Asus. I would go Saphire, MSI, or even the Gigabyte version.

Yea, all this conjecture about the "future proofing" with AMD is just that, conjecture, and is being vastly over-emphasized as some absolute, proven fact. I mean, it is not like you will have to throw away a 1060 in one year, and can use a 480 for 3 years.

Between the 6gb 1060 and 8gb 480, I would pick whichever is cheaper, if there is a price difference. Otherwise, it is a toss up. I dont think one can go wrong with either card, and both have weaknesses. 480 is slower in the overall spectrum of current games, but *may* improve relative to the 1060 as more games utilize DX12. 1060 is overall faster in today's games, uses less power, and most likely has more overclocking headroom. So at the same price, it is basically a toss up.

depends on who the seller is. jet marketplace merchants might not charge tax if you're outta state
