As long as it's the 6gb version, same goes for the 480, get the 8gb.
Yea, all this conjecture about the "future proofing" with AMD is just that, conjecture, and is being vastly over-emphasized as some absolute, proven fact. I mean, it is not like you will have to throw away a 1060 in one year, and can use a 480 for 3 years.
Between the 6gb 1060 and 8gb 480, I would pick whichever is cheaper, if there is a price difference. Otherwise, it is a toss up. I dont think one can go wrong with either card, and both have weaknesses. 480 is slower in the overall spectrum of current games, but *may* improve relative to the 1060 as more games utilize DX12. 1060 is overall faster in today's games, uses less power, and most likely has more overclocking headroom. So at the same price, it is basically a toss up.
