So after getting home from work today, and after finishing my homework, I installed my new 4870. Some things take priority over new computer hardware, but not many.
My case cooling is generally very good, particularly around the video card area. My 2900XT idled at in the mid 50s Celsius most of the time. My 4870 is idling at 77-78 C, according to CCC. However, I don't here the fan spinning at all, and the current clocks are 500/900 at idle.
I've the 8.6 Catalyst drivers installed, however, I do see 8.7 Betas available from Guru3D and a few other places. Can any other 4800 series owners vouch for a set of drivers that ramps up fan speeds to combat heat?
ATI Tool and ATI Tray Tools haven't been updated in many many months.
