Radeon 5870 Card Manufacturer Question

I am waiting on availability for Asus version of 5870 in Canada....I've noticed other mnfc. ones are available currently however. Is there anything wrong with going with say: Powercolor,Saphire,Diamond, XFX or MSI versions of the 5870 ? Thanks.

they're all based off of the reference design right now so there isn't much advantage outside of perks such as XFX's double lifetime warranty or ASUS's voltage tweak, etc

The main difference is warranty. I think XFX has lifetime, so I'd just go with them. Some will have different coolers as well. Some will be factory overclocked or use a non reference design, but in general I care more about the warranty.

they are all the same right now. i know from experience that HIS and Sapphire rma service is great I'd pick one of those if you dont want to wait

I got an HIS because it was the only one in stock.

NEWEGG and others removed most of the 5870 and 5850 cards because they don't know when stocks will be filled.
I ordered myself from TIGER and it's still backorder(6 days) but they promiced it for next week.
I called XFX too and explain story because Lifetime warranties usualy working after 30 days of purshase, they sad i need to not worry about it, they know whole story about high demand of this cards and empy shelves.

Warranty and offers/coupons are really the only things differentiating them.

i had a sapphire 4850, an his 3870, and now have an msi gtx 260 core 216. all 3 are fine cards, but I would still pick xfx over any of them b/c of the lifetime warranty or asus b/c of the voltage tweak software.

Then why does the Egg always have tons of Powercooler refurbished cards, and usually open box units of other brands, with a few rare refurb models on occasion.

Normally video card lasts until its replaced or boxed away,for peace of mind some users go with brands like XFX,Asus,Gigabyte that have decent or lifetime warranty.

I still have a very old GF2 (Leadtek)card and few others still going strong ,sometimes I look at what comes with the card(contents) and take the length of warranty into account as well.
