Radeon 6870 and LED LCD TV

Im running an LED LCD TV off my HDMI out from a radeon 6870.

Im using CCC to shrink the screen slightly to make it fit on the LED TV.

Running netflix or 1080p content I get tearing on the picture. I get abrupt transitions and overall a number of visual issues I dont get running the same content on my displayport connected monitors.

Ive tried adjusting the differrent HDTV modes under CCC but im not sure how many hertz to run ive tried 1080p30 optimized @ 30 hertz, 60 hertz etc but nothing seems right.

please help me in the set up.

Hi, what version of drivers and CCC are you running? I was having similar problems with an HDTV and didnt fix until I switched to 11.5. Then I set HDTV mode to 1080p24 and scaling options to 0%.

Also, you said you used CCC to shrink the picture to fit? How did you do that?

i will try to update the drivers later today.

i shrunk the picture by selecting the TV under HDTV options. the same place where you were able to set the hdtv mode to 1080p24.

i think you hit apply or something to select a custom resolution. it has on screen directions.

i downloaded the most recent version of CCC i think when i installed the video cards.

Disable aero and see if you still have problems. Aero will give all kinds of video irregularities on a second monitor. The HDTV output should be set to 60hz for a 1080p.

I should have asked first if you were running Windows 7. If so right click on the desktop, personalize and choose a basic theme. Then retest.

i disabled aero and i set the display to 60 hz 1080p i have to run a custom resolution because the 1920 x 1200 native display doenst fit a maximized window correctly.

isnt this also odd?

im running hdmi out to hdmi in.

Set display to 1920x1080 and then go into "my digital flat-panels" in CCC. Go to scaling options and set to 0% for your HDTV and recheck.

seems to fix it for the resolution.

i still get some tearing on 720p playback.

havent test too many different sources yet.

but 1080p 60hz is the best. (fewest tears)

Have you tried different media players? I get some tearing in MPC-HC at the bottom of the screen. I don't get the same tearing in VLC. I still prefer MPC-HC.

I know this is a few days old, but I want to offer my help. It could be that your TV is not set up to correctly display the image from your PC. Your TV needs to be set to do 1:1 pixel mapping, and different TVs have different ways of doing that. Some call it PC mode. Mine calls is HD size 2 or something stupid like that. Anyways, posting the make and model of your TV would allow us to look up that setting for you.

Once your TV is set to 1:1 pixel mapping, you should be able to set your video card to 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz with zero overscan in ATI CCC. This should fill up your screen perfectly and get rid of a lot of your problems. It's at least a good place to start.

Also, are you using an HDMI cable, a DVI-to-HDMI cable, or a DVI-to-HDMI adapter?

i didnt check this thread till just now. i should have earlier =P

i turned on 1:1 pixel mapping that helped a lot.

vlc still had tearing. i have aero themes off.

the best so far tho is MPC HC to the point where i will call this resolved!

what i still cannot get used to tho is the LED LCD.

the picture and video playback looks different vs my LCD monitors and my plasma tv.

Fyi i have a similar issue with my htpc and my new 60' led tv. I will try all you suggestion let you know if this solve the issue.
I have a radeon 5770 and my led tv is a sharp, issue is minor but annoying "random lag", tearing while watching hd movies.
