Radeon 8500 64MB $44+ship at CompGeeks (refurb) (OOS)

Been lookin' for a cheapo decent card and found the refurb Radeon 8500 64MB at CompGeeks for $44 + ship ($6 for me). Doesn't say that it's an LE, but it doesn't list the core/mem speeds, and it is CompGeeks, so who knows.

Thanks Whizbang, I've been looking for a good deal on an 8500. I have a few presently and I needed another. My systems would be processor bound with the newer cards. It would have been nice if more information was provided by the Geeks. I've avoided the LE version of the card because as I understand the DVI to VGA connector isn't supported. For $49 with shipping I thought it was worth taking a chance.

So, should I replace my VisionTek GF3 Ti200 (not overclocked) with the 8500, use the 8500 to upgrade another machine, or it doesn't matter? Any thoughts? I don't do much gaming, but my kids do on their puters.

This is great - hopefully its a "Built By ATI" 8500 and not an OEM/8500LE, but even so this is still a great buy!

Got mine for $47 shipped to CA - don't forget the use ThE CHeap BARGAIN Site 10% off coupon code ;o)

And I was about to buy the OEM 8500LE from Fry's for $65+tax....

If it's not working, getting your money back from compgeeks is a major headache. I had to dispute the charge after waiting a month.

I can't believe I got in on this one before the Anandtech Effect wiped them out. Must have stumbled onto the thread within seconds of the original post.

The illustration is of a genuine ATI 8500, and there is no mention of "OEM", it should be the real deal. I sure hope so!

Anyone had their's shipped yet? My credit card has been billed and the order was processed at 9:07am on Saturday, but still not been shipped. I hope they haven't over-sold this....

Got it today (I live in California). Everything seems alright, though the tv-out appears to only wants to output in PAL instead of NTSC. This problem could be isolated to me.
