Easiest to do, especially if you're familiar with flashing other things like your mobo bios. Just boot from a clean dos disk, run start.exe from the .zip file and choose a numbered option. Finish flashing, power down and up. Boot into WinOS and install drivers.

Its probably best to uninstall any current ATI driver you might have and uninstall PowerStrip if you use that before you do the above. I flashed my LE with a fresh install of WinXP and its now up to 275/275 default.

Its quite easy actually, I just did mine about 2hrs ago and humming just fine at 275/275(planning on cranking it up.
If you get the file FlashRadeon8500.zip, get a clean/formatted floppy disk and extract all the files onto that floppy.

Then boot your computer with the floppy and you'll get a DOS prompt.
Just type "start" and the flash program should start.

It will have a menu from like 1 through 7.
First pick 1 to backup your old bios.
Then pick the number(I think its 5) that say" flash your card to RETAIL8500 275/275 NTSC"
After that you're done.

Go get the powerstrip version 3.x and it should show that its running at 275/275

I'm working with a few guy's together to make personal BIOS verions reday for the Radeon 8500. Then you can use your own RAM settings fro instance... We have made e new BIOS with more stability on the RAM. Second, I'm working on a universal BIOS to use all kind off speed settings etc, so you can alway flash your card with the right stable settings! We hope to get it possible to use another voltages on the RAM, GPU and I/O too!

for example; a standard OEM card with plain OEM BIOS could only reach 260Mhz DDR Ram speed without artifacts. With the new BIOS 265,5Mhz. Not much improvement but there is still some! It's a begin....

Also my flashprogram (flashradeon8500.zip package) is capable to flash the new Radeon 8500 Ultra/MAX version on 300/300Mhz. The radeon core is just the same (R200). Only the ram on this (to be released) cards should made with a higher rating then 3,6ns I presume. But in some very rare cases It might be working on Good quality Retail cards also!
