Radeon 8500 vs Geforce 2 Ultra (LeadTek)

I have a Geforce 2 Ultra from LeadTek, will I notice a difference in performance if I move to a Radeon 8500?

I need Dual-head, and DVI for my LCD, and was thinking of moving to the ATI card.

Your opinions?

Yes, you will notice quite a large difference.

I wouldn't say quite large, but there will be some good speed improvements. The ultra was always fast, but it doesn't have any of the options the newer cards have, its just a speed card.

Eh, if you NEED DVI and dual, might as well get the 8500 (I am guessing you don't want to downgrade).

Well if you're content with your Ultra I wouldn't upgrade, as no games(to my knowledge) even use any of the features the Radeon or GeForce3 offer. Wait to upgrade until Unreal2 comes out, then you'll want a better vid card. HTH

I know couple ofgames that use GF3 features, e-racer for instance. There was quite a big difference with GF3 card in picture quality and effects compared to my GF2 Ti card. I guess DroneZ and Aquanox also use some features that only GF3 and Radeon 8500 have.

And I have to admit that 3dmark2001's Nature game test is very impressive, try to imagine playing Op. Flashpoint or Delta Force on such landscapes. But yes, until now the number of games that take full advantage of GF3 or R8500 is near to zero, mainly because most of gamers use still older cards. New generation cards are not so common because of their high price.
