Radeon 9700 owners: Fuzzy text in BF1942 with FSAA enabled?

I find the chat messages hard to read (1024x768 resolution).
Has anyone found a fix?

i have a Radeon 8500, but i think its the same thing. FSAA blurs the 'jaggies' of the text, so it looks fuzzy.

Other games do this as well?

Yes... i think there's a patch that fixes that though. I haven't played BF1942 for awhile, but i'm positive this was a known problem, and pretty sure it's been fixed.

i think he is right (I haven't played it since beta). it's not an ATI problem. It's a BF42 problem. It does the same thing on nVidia cards with AA enabled.

i think he is right (I haven't played it since beta). it's not an ATI problem. It's a BF42 problem. It does the same thing on nVidia cards with AA enabled.

Ahh okay, at least now I know it's not pure ATI problem.

the type they use in the game gets blured when you have aa enabled.


It is not ATI fault.

Fuzzy chat text has not affect on gameplay? It annoyed me enough that i turned of FSAA.

I noticed the same thing on my 9700 pro. Game ran fine, but text was fuzzy. Other games work fine w/FSAA. Just a BF1942 problem, I guess. I didn't really notice that it helped the graphics that much anyway.....BF isn't really known as a graphics monster, just awesome gameplay.

Do you guys use the settings in the advanced display properties to set all games to 8x/16x, or do you allow the game to define it?

When I want to use those features, I go to the advanced properties. I don't know of a setting within BF1942 that allows you to turn on any FSAA or anisotropic.

Try enabling your "alternate pixel center" in your display properties/settings/advance/direct3d/compatibility settings.

See if that'll made the fonts more sharp.
