"Radeon 9700 Pros suck"?

I think people get hypnotized by nvidia's spinning logo...... ATI has the best value cards that are competitive with the GF4. period

I don't think it sucks, but I don't like radeon. I also don't like nvidia. I really hate both companies equally. I think ATI has the better rep though, just cause they came into the market after nvidia. It's the same thing with Intel VS AMD. I think it's safe to say that AMD has the reputation of a "good honest company" while many people seem to think of intel as a company who takes advantage of ignorant consumers with their guerilla marketing tactics. Now the same is happening with ATI VS nVidia. People are tired of the geforce series and I think lots of people are starting to hate nvidia. Funny, isn't it? But I remember back when voodoo cards were the sh!t then the Geforce Ultra came out and everyone was saying "voodoo sucks, nVidia is god!!!!!" but I bet now some of those people who said that are saying "ATI Rocks, nvidia sucks!". Oh well. Like I said above, I hate both of them equally. I think ATI has sucky drivers. Sure, 9700 is stable, but look at most of their other cards. How many tries did it take them to get it right? I remember just about a year ago, all the hype about the 8500 card. People rushing out to get it. Then a few months later, the GF4 series came out and everyone jumped on the nvidia bandwagon and started saying the 8500 was a big failure and ATI was going bankrupt and blah blah blah. Now the 9700 is out and it's reversed, everyone saying GF4 sucks again. Then in March/April, the Geforce FX will come out and everyone will jump back on the nvidia bandwagon. Personally, I find alot of your hypocrites Pick a damn company and stick with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just my opinion.

The drivers work fine unless u are either too stupid to follow simple installation instructions, or blind and cant find the "next" button on the install window... cause thats about the hardest thing to deal with when installing any of the drivers since the 2.2's
I dont understand why you think it is built wrong, parts dont look pretty to you? the red color a turnoff to you? since it overclocks massivley and doesnt overheat.. id say that it is built pretty damn well... and it doesnt require a special fan and larger space...

Pretty funny thread. I never knew so many people didn't like the Radeon. I always thought that the 9700 Pro was just the God of video cards. Well, now I'm informed. I'm going to try this card out myself and see how it runs THEN I'll judge it.

If your so goddamned rich, then why not find someone with a working mobo and a Radeon 9700, and get the same mobo? That way you can be fairly sure it will work. Seems there are a lot of people who have motherboards the card will work in, and not everything is always perfect, so don't say the Radeon is crap because of a few problems some users might find, it's the same with every product. What is the Geforce FX has similar problems? Will you hate that as well?
If you have a 9700, your probably rich enough to get a new mobo if need be anyway. (speaking generally, not directly to overclockthis)

By incompatible, do you mean because it's the new AGP 3.0 standard?
The Geforce FX is also going to be an 8x card, so it may have as many problems as the 9700. Not every new technology is released without problems, that's one reason mwhy changes are sometimes made to these things.

i have other working mobos. Abit KX7-333R, Abit BE6-2 Rev2, Abit KR7A, and Abit KR7A-133R. You want to know which ones worked?.. here... Abit KX7-333R. And the R9700 didnt' work with all the rest.

no.. i'm not talking about the AGP#X. It doesn't bother me and have no problem with that.

Talk about three different ATI R9700pro's from different stores not working with my Abit KR7A and KR7A-133R??? problem description: no boot screen, orange light indicator. All the rest of hardware and fans run fine.

Apart from a few driver glitches (of which there are less and less with each driver release I might add) the Radeon 9700 Pro is an oustanding piece of hardware.

Sombody give me $100 and the card, I still won't take it.
