It'll be $360 at Best Buy which is only a little more than that site if you include shipping. BB has a few 10% off coupons floating around....

r u sure? i saw the self tag at my local BB and it was $399.99

Take into account my 10% coupon I mentioned at the end, sorry if I confused you.

No, what you saw was the price for the ATI 9800, NOT the Pro. I also was at Bestbuy today and the 9800 Pro is selling for $399 and the 9800 Non Pro version is selling for $299. My question is how does the 9800 Non Pro compare in speed to say a 9700 Pro? Btw my local Best buy doesn't seem to carry the 9700 Pro any more.

Might want to take your chances looking at BB. I saw about 6 9800 PROs on the shelf with a 299 price tag yesterday. Went by today to get in on the free netgear router, and all the 9800 pros were wiped out. I would've got one yesterday, but I just bought the 9700pro 3 months ago.

It's time to stir the pot. Why would anyone in their right mind spend $300 or more dollars for a video card when you can get one for less then $100 (GF4 4200) that runs all the games out there and then some AND can be overclockable to 4600 speeds that will buy you extra card-life in the future? I just don't get it. During these times of near recession with so many out of work and MANY of us in debt up to our ****s I just cannot believe that this is a good value.

I am ready for the flaming (I have not been to the beach (Cocoa's my fav) this year and I need a tan so flame away.

Some people would rather spend the money NOW to buy a fast video card that will last a long time. While you MAY be able to overclock the 4200 to 4600 speeds I'm sure you will be able to overclock say a 5900 Ultra or a ATI 9800 to faster speeds also. The GF4 isn't DX9 compliant for future games and I have several games NOW that cause my PNY 4200 (128 Meg) to choke. Maybe you are just not as a serious gamer as some people and don't have a need for anything faster. Given your reasoning why would anyone buy a corvette or say a Porshe when they could spend much less and buy say a Ford pinto. The speed limit on most freeways is 70 Mph or less so why would you want to buy something that goes 150 Mph. Anyway thats my .02 and reasoning. I would spend $300.00 for a new video card but 400-500 is streching it for me. One more thing, just because you have lots of dept and can't afford this doesn't mean others do.

i spent $350 the first day when the 9700 pro came out. now, it is approaching its first birthday and has given me endless amount of gaming pleasure. I would not hesitate to drop $300 on a video card if it is gonna last me 2 years
