Looks real good to me. I was trying to get the 9700pro for $250 at BestBuy but they didn't have any left and they don't look like they'll be getting any. I have a 9500pro but it's got the rolling bars which you can control with moire adjustment but then you get a shimmer in the background for light colors like lite grey. I understand that the 9800pro does not have this problem but some 9700pro's do, so I think the 9800pro is the way to go for me. FWIW I got an RMA from ATI but the card they sent me had the same problem and slower ram so kept the one I had. I had an open box plus a coupon so I couldn't bring it back and I'd already sold my old vidcard.

Please tell us how it goes once you get it.

It possibly could be a cheap oem version of the SAPPHIRE TECHNOLOGY ATI 9800 Pro 128mb card.

If you look at pricewatch you will find the starting prices for the 9800 Pros are going for $342 before shipping.
Also, even a more reputable company like GameVE is selling it for $352 before shipping.

So maybe?

sapphire doesnt sell a non pro, according to their site. I think this is legit.

If that's the case, this is smoking.

For those who got one, let us know how it is, what it comes with, etc.

I didn't even think about that... hmmmm now I really want this card! Damnit, I hope these guys are fast with packing and shipping out because the rest of my system will come either Thursday or Friday from newegg except the video card and the only other card I have is a Radeon VE, which is worthless. I'm going to give them a call Monday and order it then if this is real. When I call I'll just be asking about their policies for return and/or getting a wrong product.

Clock speeds are the same but it does have some optimizations that make a wee bit faster but nothing really noticeable.

They are different

Radeon 9800 non pro is 325/290

I thought the general policy around here was DO NOT call on a hot deal.

Anyone tried to order already and getting Error 500 after putting in the credit card/address info?

The way I look at it, the WORST that happens is that you get a Sapphire 9800 Pro for $300 + $7 shipping and tax. The best is that you get a 9800 non-pro, you consider it unsolicited merchandise, and, therefore, a gift, and dispute the bill with your credit card company. So either a $400 video card for $300, or a $300 video card for free, or nothing at all (in which case we'll try to organize a suit, like we always do with the too-good-to-be deals, and it'll fizzle out anyway), or you get a $20 coupon or something.

Worth trying.

I think you flipped the situations around. Actually, come to think of it, you make sense. I'd be happy with either situation. I always order online through American Express and they seem to do a good job in that sense. I think I'm going to order tomorrow or Tuesday.

In another post I said I'd call up asking about return policy and/or getting a wrong product. If I didn't, thats what I should have/meant to say.

How do you figure you get a free card? It would be implied that you mail the card back to the vendor if you are going to dispute the charge and don't want it.

csaddict not necessarily, you can dispute a charge whether or not you send back the card, or an unscrupulous person can just say the vendor refuses to authorize a return at all. The credit card company typically doesn't ask too much and they generally will stop the charge for you.

Simple. Any merchandise you receive in the mail that you did not specifically order can be considered a gift under California law.

I did not specifically order a Sapphire 9800 card. I ordered a Sapphire 9800 Pro card. Have printouts of webpages right here.

If I receive a Pro, all is well. If I receive a 9800, I just received something I didn't order. Therefore, it's a gift, and I have no idea why my credit card was charged by that company - I haven't received what I ordered from them!

You are DREAMING if you actually think you would get a FREE card out of this deal because they sent you a non-pro version. They all have a standard disclaimer on the web sites that mention something about not being responsible typographical errors. You really think they would allow you to keep it for free? Give me a break!

Just saw the retail 9800 non-pro at Best Buy today for $299.
I saw the 9800 non-pro at Beast Buy too today only they had the 9800PRO tag under it for $399. I'd sure like to find a Circuit City that would price match the 9800PRO to the $299 non-pro shelf tag from BB. That would be a pretty nice deal.

Heh wouldn't we all. For a price match they have to check the part number, which would not match for those. But if you get really lucky and find a stupid employee that is satisfied with the names only, you could do it. Highly YMMV

My dad seems ready to order it anytime, but I think I'll wait till Monday and talk with them about getting wrong products and such. Also, it is possible to get it for free.... depending on your credit card company. We use American Express for all our online orders at my house because they have always done a good job in terms of problems. If we don't get what we ordered, we tell American Express what happened and we refuse to pay for it. Actually, before that we call up the company and ask them what is going on and what they plan to do to correct it. American Express won't charge you for it and will talk with them. When a credit card company gets involved, they are serious, they'll be ready to stop orders from that site being placed on their cards. If American Express follows through, and I tell people at the forum here who tell their Credit Card company that American Express is doing it and that its only making their Credit Card company look bad by allowing a disreputable seller to keep selling, they'll drop out too

Cliffnotes: Whatever the case is, if we don't get what we ordered and the seller refuses to correct it, we tell our Credit Card company and they'll handle it and not charing you for the product or asking you to send it back.

Well that's interesting. After reading that the price has increased to $340, I checked the original post with a direct link to the card page and indeed it is listed as $340. However, if you go to their home page and check under the "Specials", they still have it listed as $299.
