Radeon 9800Pro vs GeForce 6600

I was wondering, does anyone have a link comparing these two cards?
I'm looking for an upgrade and don't want to spend more than $150. That's already a little more than I wanted to spend so a 6600GT is out of the question.

Even if I didn't have a motherboard already (which I do, socket 939 AGP) it seems the 9800Pro AGP is the better deal in that range. The candidates are the GeForce 6600, Radeon X700Pro and 9800Pro.

The 6600GT is the better card, and if you can get it for 150 after rebate, I'd go for it. Otherwise, its a toss up between the 9800 Pro and the X700 Pro, or fairly cut and dry if you have a PCIe motherboard. The 9800 Pro does not exist in PCIe form.

If you are tight on the budget, you can always pick up 9700Pro (10% slower than 9800Pro) for $114

HL2 Performance

seem pretty close but you save $35. Otherwise, i'd pick up a 6600GT with MIR for $150.

Wow...that rebated deal on the 6600gt is a great deal....that would be a no brainer decision when it comes to deciding between the other candidates you are looking at!!

Every new thread out there right now keeps recommending 6600GT. Most people forget 6600GT AGP are above $180.

Just keep in mind the HSF on that XFX 6600GT is reported to be loud (see the NewEgg user reviews). If the noise won't bother you and the occasional threads lamenting XFX's reliability/service doesn't phase you, it's a no-brainer to choose a 6600GT over a 9800P. Dual DVI is pretty sweet, too.

I didn't even realize there was an AGP X700P to choose from.

does the 6600 draw a considerable amount more power than the 9800 pro? I don't care too much about 10-20 fps improvement if it's going to shoot my electricity bill way up there. anybody have any info on this?

I think the power consumption is virtuially identical (something like 50 to 60 watts)

If you can't get a 6600gt, then get a 9800pro. The x700 is pci-e only, and the 6600 regular is actually pretty slow compared to a 9800pro.
