I think the 9600 pro beats it. The 9600 pro has higher clock speeds

check the links on the first few post labeled text.
I have a question of performance difference in a gfti4400 and the 9800se from sapphire? It has the 256 bit mem interface, but with the other 4 pipes down. Even if the other 4 pipes don't allow proper operation, will it still outperform my current card? on the new aquamark 3 I get almost 22,00 points. I'm running 1.8@2.4a p4. I guess is it worth it or should I wait till the dx9 games actually get here?

Yeah, sorry just finished reading the overclockers.com link. Seems like in DX8 and Quake the 9800SE is faster, but in all the rest it's pretty much a tie in stock form.

With a Ti4400 I would wait. I went from an 8500 and even that is still fine, however I moved it to my wifes machine to upgrade her card. If not I would have held off.

I'd wait. If the 9800se didn't mod it wouldn't be that huge of an improvement.

There are 9800SE's clocked at 380/340. But there are also 9800SE's clocked at 325/250. So if you want to do the softmod you should find one that is not only 256 bit, but also with the higher clocks.

So do you think by the time HL2 gets here prices on the cards will have gone down or will they maybe go up with anticipated surges in sales due to the Game release? I've heard the next card, the XT, is coming soon, maybe that will drive the prices down even further. One final note, I've looked at the Sapphire card@ 198$ from newegg. The product link showed that it was 256bit card, but only 4 pipes open, not sure of the clocks. IS there potential there to kick my gf4400 out of my machine? There is a chance I could sale my card off for about half the price of the Sapphire part. I'm so confused.

okay, I just downloaded the demo for Jedi knight: Academy and it plays real jerky at 1280x whatever it is. It's okay at 1078x740, but anything higher it gets slow. Is this just the game, like enter the matrix and it's issues, or is it the v-card? If so would the 9800se from powercolor boost performance from my current gf4400?
P.S. Something about a hot chic and a lightsaber really gets me going!

No, you would need to go higher, like 9800 pro. the 4400 is better than the 9800se
