Well folks I will start out by saying that my built by ATI radeon is a week old and I just got my Dell 2001fp monitor today. I hooked it up via the DVI cable and fired it up.

All is well, set it to 1600x1200x32 and load the 2001fp drivers. Excellent, everything looks great, check for dead pixels....got none awesome!

Decide to reboot and I get this

Now if I back the resolution down to 1280x1024 or use the analog cable it goes away. I am running the 4.1 Catalyst Drivers. I have also tried reinstalling them to no avail.

I also tested the monitor on a different system at 1600x1200 on the DVI on a GF3 TI500 and it was fine.

Any ideas?

Go into the ATI control panel into the SMARTGART tab. Disable Fast Writes and reboot.

P.S. Can I have a copy of that desktop background? looks wicked. Thx.

If the VGA works fine but the DVI out doesn?t then I?m thinkin maybe defective card.

Could try re-installing drivers.

Its a simple fix that works most of the time with this issue, go into ATI advance settings (settings tab, advance), uncheck the alternate DVI check box (or reverse). This is a very common thing in our tech. support, fixes this issues 98% of the time. The 9800XT does provide a great 1600x1200 DVI, don't worry about that as an issue (I'm even a Nvidia fan admitting that).

I have done that and it takes away almost all of the disruption but there is still a problem.

RMA the card then, since another (different) card works in the same system. Since the system boots, but the display is corrurpt, changing bios setting will most likely have no effect, but leaves the HW as the issue.
