radeon ddr question

hey everyone,
i need to know something about the radeon ddr.
i hear rumors that when the radeon II comes out, its drivers will be compatiable w/ the current radeon ddr (whose drivers are currently based on the rage 128)
i also hear that this will bring great performance increase in the radeon ddr, possibly surpassing the performance of the geforce 2 gts.
Can anyone clerify this info. or have any thougths you may want to share w/ me on it???

ps, i'm debating between buying a geforce 2 gts or radeon ddr, and this info is crucial to my desicion - - so if anyone wants to shed some light on their thougths of each card that would be cool too!! - - thanks again

The drivers right now are great but there ARE unified ones coming. Possibly before Christmas.

I've also heard the rumors of new drivers that are supposed to really speed up the Radeon, but like all rumors they should be taken with a grain of salt. Personaly, even at the Radeons current performance level I still think its a better overall card than the geforce2 when you factor in the better 2D/3D image quality. And of course, the drivers will only get better with time, so in theory the performance should increase some too, even if it isn't in one super driver update.
