Radeon DVD Problem in Win2k

I just installed this card but I can't get the DVD player to work. I installed the DVD software included on the install disk since I understand that this DVD player program takes advantage of the Radeons hardware DVD acceleration. I installed the latest official Win2k drivers from ATI and enabled DMA on all my drives. The video shows large scrambled graphics blocks for a while but then locks up after a short while.

Is anyone having this same problem? Also, please share any Win2k Radeon tricks that anyone may have come up with. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, they have no info for running a Radeon in Win2k. I guess I will dig a little deeper into the forum.

I have the radeon working PERFECTLY on my system. The key I believe is to remove ALL previous video card drivers. Also, turn off acpi if you can so that it doesn't share any IRQ. You can do this by going into the system properties and under the computer type, change it to standard pc. This may solve your dvd problems. I run both the ati dvd player as well as windvd 2k. Both run good, However, I noticed a little LOWER cpu utilization on windvd.....strange. Anyways, the color vibrancy using the ATI player is FAR superior.
I even got it to run all my 3d games with 4x agp! I tell you one thing, the 3d acceleration is AWESOME. Definately hold me over until the G800.

Hmm, is this the real Win2000 DVD player? I ask because I have the ATi one that was for NT4, and it is being updated by ATi- it is just a beta for the moment and available for download. Don't know how good it is yet, haven't got round to it.

You can try another player, such as the PowerDVD 3.0 (and I think WinDVD also), that supports the hardware decoding as well.

After installing PowerDVD everything is working great. I just wish I hadn't wasted the entire evening trying to figure it out. Thanks to all that responded.
